Tender and flavorful, these split peas simmered perfectly in a large pot of soup, complete with a smoked ham hock, lots of celery, carrots, sweet onions, shallots, coarse ground pepper and a little salt to taste.I’ve cooked other split peas that never became tender, even after overnight soaks. Palouse Brands/Clear Creek will be my go to favorites from now on! It was my first experience with this family farm’s products, and I’m looking forward to their lentils, yellow split peas, chickpeas and pinto beans — buying in 5 lb. sacks now that I know I can trust their quality!

Excellent quality split peas. I’ve made several pots of soup with these, and having inspected each batch carefully before cooking I haven’t found a single piece of debris, a malformed pea, a pebble, or anything else that shouldn’t be there is this bag. The flavor is excellent, too.

Quick Shipping, Good Product and Price

First... This bag is smaller than you probably expect. NOT the fault of the company, but simply appears bigger in the pictures. It is the right weight and great quality peas, but if you are wanting a huge volume, you want to order a bigger size.As for the quality... Yum! They are bright, delicious, and seem very fresh. I make split pea soup at least once a month (usually from the leftovers of cooking corned beef) and these peas made the best split pea soup yet.I will order more, but do hope I find them on sale at some point.

Excellent quality and taste. I will not hesitate to purchase again. When what you are cooking has the product name in it then buy this, it's all about quality and pride in their product.

I love Brand Palouse and in addition to the split peas have bought their garbanzo beans, brown lentils, and red spring wheat berries. All of them are the best! I've even bought bags of them as gifts for friends and family. The split peas make the most delicious soup ever. The garbanzos make the best hummus ever, and they're also terrific in salads and soup. I've made sprouts from the lentils and garbanzos and I'm sprouting peas right now. Palouse is such a wonderful company, and the Mader family who run it stand by their products. Look into their company ethos-they live and stand by what they say. You can field trace your product and find out exactly who grew it and where, and the date it was packaged. The company's website has fantastic recipes (I especially recommend the manicotti with garbanzo filling!) and they explain exactly how to prepare the different varieties of legumes and grains they sell. If you buy the wheat berries, Ina Garten has a great wheat berry salad recipe you can get online, and it's a huge hit when I take it to pot lucks. Her recipe calls for spelt or quinoa in addition to the wheat berries, but I use all wheat berries and it works fine. In these days with food getting more expensive and protein harder to come by, the Palouse Brand products are an excellent way to eat more healthily and deliciously without breaking your budget. You can't go wrong with Palouse Brand!
