Use the ground strap, product works great
just installed into my 355 swapped 86' S10, and it did the job, ended up rebuilding the entire distributor for the most part using Pertonix parts. on the old unit ( Not the pertonix) they did not include the ground strap on the install. remember to use the grease that comes with it and the rotor button and hook up the ground strap that is also included...The truck started quickly paired with the Flamethrower II PCM, did not have to even tap the Gas

Extremely happy with this HEI coil, highly recommend!
This coil works amazing in my hot rod. I have it paired with an older MSD 6AL, and MSD Super Conductor wires going to Accel 576S plugs. I replaced a very old MSD coil that was internally shorting out.

Quit working on day 1!!
First off let me start by saying this is the first time I’ve ever given my review for anything!! But this really upset me. I installed this on a crate sbc 350 motor with a stock HEI distributor. After installing this, I fired up the motor and it was running very rough. I adjusted the timing and went through the carburetor numerous times tying to resolve the issue, to no success. Finally after awhile of this, the motor would no longer start. I checked for spark at the distributor, and there was none. On a whim I put the stock coil back in, and the car fired up and ran as smooth as could be. This coil was bad right out of the box. Next time I’m buying an MSD one. Update: I cannot even return this item because it was delivered on March 20th but unfortunately it was not installed until April 23rd so it was 4 days past Amazon’s return policy. I’m so beyond disappointed with this whole ordeal.

Nice Upgrade to OEM
Have only had this product in service for about a month. You will notice that the wiring leads are about double the gage as the original equipment product which should be appropriate to handle the greater voltage ratings and associated current. On the installation side of things, the (4) screws included are slightly shorter then the originals which can create a stripping of the threads in the cap, particularly where the ground strap is located.
