and love to tinker
This should probably never made it to market. Nearly impossible to join to network, and removing the head to reset is utterly impossible without superhuman strength and a pry bar! After finally getting those two tasks complete, it stopped reporting the money amount about a week later. Sent it back. I'm a tech geek, and love to tinker, but this was too much of a hassle to enjoy.

Porky lives! If you can't get your porkfolio online, try these steps....
Well, thanks to the many helpful comments here and a few hours of trial and error over a day I finally worked it out. In particular, the one that did it was from “Bogart”. Many, many thanks for that. I was about to contact Amazon and arrange a return. Anyhow, the steps are as follows:1. Remove the head from the pig. It is a tight pressure fit, so is hard to remove but it does eventually pop off. You can remove the cable if you want as well - t’s a simple RJ connector - just remember to plug it back in before putting the head back on the pig!2. Install the ‘wink’ app on your mobile, and make sure that brightness is on high. Don’t do it in direct sunlight, but otherwise you really don’t need to hide in a dark cupboard.3. Remove the battery cover on the head of the pig4. If the pig nose is not flashing orange, follow the instructions to reset it - basically tap on the help/question mark in the app, pull out a battery, plug it back in, press the reset button on the app, and put the pig nose directly on the mobile screen. Wait for the buzz from the mobile. If it’s not flashing orange, then try running the reset again immediately.5. When the nose is flashing orange, use the app to transfer the wifi settings - again, just place the nose on the mobile screen BUT as soon as the mobile buzzes indicating the info has been sent PULL OUT one of the batteries. Then immediately plug it back in again. With luck the app will show the pig has been registered and you can give it a name etc. Put in a coin and see if it registers.6. Put the battery cover back on, reconnect the cable if you unplugged that, and put the head back on the pig - again, pressure fit so need to use those muscles! What I learnt from all this - the batteries that came with the pig were fine and did not need replacing, you only needed to pull out one battery not both, you didn’t need to find an apple phone if you had android or vice versa, you didn’t need to shake the pig to get it to work, you didn’t need to unhide the SSID, you didn't need to do it all in a pitch black room, didn't need to muck around with the router, and you didn’t need to try to find the porkfolio app (which is no longer on the Android play store anyhow). All you had to do was follow the steps above. I suspect a timing issue with the Wink app that was not there with the original porkfolio app. Anyhow, problem solved. For anyone in Australia, be aware that - as clearly stated - this only knows about US currency. For us here downunder the AUD to USD conversion is as follows:$0.05 = $0.01$0.10 = $0.25$0.20 = $1.00$0.50 = doesn't fit$1.00 = $0.25$2.00 = $0.05End result is in general Porky (yes, not that imaginative.... so 'sooiee' me) the pig will show there is less money in his tummy than there actually is. If you want you can manually add in the amount via the app (go into setting by tapping on the three dots on the top right hand of the screen, tap on your pig name, and tap on the 'deposit a dollar amount' button.). It would be nice if I could change him to support our local currency, but hey. I now have a money bank with a built in alarm that alerts me if the kids try to get at my change! I can also put the money in via the plug rather than the slot, and manually add in the amount to keep the tally accurate.Overall - finally - this is a good money bank. The plastic is thick and high quality, and if you can be bothered setting up the wifi connection then it does have some neat features. The configuration process definitely sucked, but now that's sorted I'm pretty happy with the purchase.

Fun toy, but be ready for the challenge to set it up
I have tried a number of Wink or Quirky product, including Wink Egg Minder, Wink Hub, Quirky Nimbus, Quirky Porkfolio, Quirky Wink Spotter. They are creative products. However, they are not finalized/consumer-ready products. So, there are many complains about their products. In general, I suggest that you enjoy reading what Wink or Quirky will provide, but don’t spend your money yet. Please wait until many people start providing positive comments. Otherwise, you may just purchase a good number of early prototype with limited customer supports. Two major problems that have been mentioned by other people:(1) It is very challenge to set up the device. It took me often 2-3 times to set up the WiFi network. (It also wasted my 2-3 minutes for each device.)(2) Many of the functions do not work as advertised, for example, Nimbus cannot display the travel time between two places. I contacted the customer supports, but “we tested the travel time on our Nimbus here and we are having similar issues. … right now there is not much more we can do. We know there is a bug and we are working on it at the moment.”Porkfolio is fun. The kids love it. However, it is very hard to reset the dollar amount. My kids like it so much and they often empty the Porkfolio and put the coins back in. I wish there is a reset button so that the dollar amount can be zeroed out.
