Giro Switchblade

I love this helmet! I got it specially for riding my road ebike because the thing is, a 17mph effort on a regular bike translates to 25mph of speed on an ebike. As a result, I find myself going much faster and for more extended periods of time on the ebike compared to my non-ebikes.With that in mind, I thought it would be wise to invest in a helmet that provides enhanced protection. I was drawn to the idea of a spherical helmet with a face guard, but I encountered two issues with such helmets. The first was the challenge of drinking while riding. It's quite tricky to position the bottle just right to take a drink, so spillage is a common occurrence. The second issue was the difficulty of spitting without hitting the face guard.This helmet addresses both of these concerns while affording me the added safety of a spherical design with a face guard. I particularly appreciate the detachable face guard as it can be completely removed during long and demanding mountain climbs to improve ventilation, and then easily snapped back into place for the descent and higher-speed flatland riding.To take a drink, all that's needed is to disengage the two lower hooks, allowing the face guard to swing up, enabling me to drink and spit with minimal interference (this can be accomplished while continuing to ride). Then, when it's time to descend, I simply pull the guard down, and it snaps back into place. It's fantastic! I often find myself climbing shorter hills with the guard partially disengaged like this because it's much more convenient than stopping to remove it completely. Additionally, the extra protection of the face guard is not as crucial during slower climbs.While it may not be the top choice for the hardcore downhill ripping crowd (although it does have CPSC, EN-1078, and ASTM-1952-DH certification), it's an excellent option for those who fall in the middle ground between cycling and motorcycling.

This is an amazing helmet. got it for Enduro riding. Perfect to go up hill and even better going down. Super easy to slide the jaw piece into the helmet. I would recommend it for any rider that likes pedaling uphill and going down fast.

The helmet is nice and It’s just as heavy like other full face Giro helmets we had. When the front part is removed it still weighs a little bit then normal but it does provide very adequate protection and vents. Seller being bicycle addiction I would have to rate them low. The box came a little bit beat up but the helmet was not even in its soft bag. The cover bag was stuffed in the corner and there are extra padding’s and stuff that usually are in the plastic bag with instructions were not in there. The pads velcro part were stuck on to the soft bag in the corner like it was just tossed in. So it looks like it was some kind of a demo display model maybe. It really wasn’t packed the way you would buy a brand new. They did not even check to see if it was all put together since the instruction bag was also not even sealed in the bag. There was no quality assurance when it was packed and shipped out.

Really nice helmet. Fits good, and nice having a dual helmet.

I ignored a lot of reviews and people on online forums talking about how weak the face shield is and how it will fall off on a crash. I thought they were doing extreme jumps and that's why the helmet failed. I ordered this and I was wrong. You can rip the face shield right off the helmet with minimal effort. This helmet is FAR from being DH or Eduro safe. The top part that protects the head is solid, like other helmets this brand makes, but the face shield .... forget about it.Also, fit is not great. Every brand you can think of, their Medium helmets fit me great. This one fits tight, and I mean tight to the point I cant wear it for more than 10 minutes. Again, the problem is not the top, but the face shield piece.Save your time and money. I ended up purchasing a BELL Super DH. It is a lot more solid and a better fit.Let me clarify this: I was never expecting this to the to be the ultimate do it all helmet, crash against a tree and laugh. I understand there are weaknesses with these types of design. The Bell also has weaknesses.What I did not expect was something that was as fragile as this helmet.And the DH certifications ... forget about those. I dont know how they certify it, but it is clearly a poor thought out certification that will hurt people.

El casco como protección es súper recomendado pero a nivel de acabado y materiales bastante decepcionadoConsiderar que lo más importante es la seguridad pero la mentonera no es práctica

Una delle viti della visiera è spanata. Ho dovuto riordinarla ad un costo molto elevato perché le viti di ricambio non sono presenti nella confezione originale. Inoltre sono di plastica e tendono subito a deformarsi.

Casco comodo, mentonera facil de desmontar, calidad buena, envio rapidisimo... En definitiva... Encantado.

Me encanta el casco lo que no me gusta es que no ha venido en su embalaje original.No ha venido bien en su trayecto.Por lo demás medio bien.

Perfecte el casc, és molt còmode i posat no pesa gaire. És perfecte per fer Enduro i altres, el que va molt bé és que puguis treure la protecció de la barbeta

Muy buen casco para mtb, la mentonera desmontable funciona muy bien y tanto nuca como sin quedan guardadas.
