Great Music!
I first heard this music in a beach restaurant years ago as background music. But it caught my attention and I asked the wait staff to please find out what it was and let me know. I've bought the album, the cassette and several CDs. I lent most of them to people and often did not get them back. I needed another copy and at long last found it. It remains in high rotation on my listening list!

STOP the talking!
VERY UNHAPPY that the CD has 2 talking tracks after the music. The 2 talking tracks are so annoying that I have stopped listening to the CDbecause I want ONLY music...not talk!

One of the best smooth jazz CD's ever
I am surprised that no-one has commented on this gem of a CD. I have been a jazz fan for 20 years, and with the new focus on 'smooth jazz', I am amazed that this CD has not a resurgence in popularity. Oh well, anyway, it is fantastic - I think of it more as a staple in one's jazz collection. If you don't have it, GET IT NOW! These guys are vets of jazz, and they put down some of the greatest here - check out their other ones (James/Klugh) as well - they are great - but I guess I felt that the magic was in this one as opposed to the other (very good mind you) CD's.

Great Music
I have loved this since I first heard back in 1980. I want to thank the roommate I had while stationed at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi for turning me on to these 2 artists.

Sounds amazing on JBL L200's
Outstanding remix of a classic vinyl recording . Sounds amazing on JBL L200's! Clean and crisp from bass to treble and such a musical performance. If you like classic, smooth jazz, this is a must-have CD.

it seemed like new to me
Sold as used, it seemed like new to me. I originally purchased this album as a vinyl but having enjoyed it for years I went for this CD re-issue. It really does not disappoint. The remastering puts the snare drum and cymbals a little towards the back of the sonic picture but possibly only a drummer would notice this. The compositions are wonderfully smooth and snappy, and full of that Bob James melodic frame work. Three bass players appear on the album but there sessions are not identified on this re-issue notes. Neil Jason appears on Kari and Afterglow. Ron Carter appears on Winding River and Mallorca and Gary King appears on the rest. Eric Gale appears on four of the performances but only as a backing musician. A whole mix of woodwind and strings are used in a very subtle and enchanting way. All the arrangement and conducting of the strings are by Bob James and some superb recording and mixing by Joe Jorgenson, who did many of the Bob James recordings and Smooth jazz crossover artists for CBS & Columba. Its terrific 'travelling' music.

Nice but
It is a nice CD but it is somehow limited. The sound is not well defined, the themes are somehow repetitive and the last track is absurd. Who is interested in the conversation both musicians have about why they play together. This is not a documentary, it is a cd of music. I would recommend others records. Bob James and Friends which is a great record, very well produced and recorded.
