Droll Yankees Ant Moat 3/4 Cup Ant Deterrent for Hummingbird Feeders, Red

I’ve fed hummers my whole life and have tried every trick, idea to keep ants out of the feeder. The past couple of months has been the easiest maintenance I’ve ever had with feeders. Don’t be put off for the bit of a higher price; it’s worth every penny. Give 10 stars if I could; wonderful product.

These work perfectly! I can't believe I've never used anything like this before. When it's hot outside, you have to fill almost daily with water. So far the plastic still looks good (about 1 year of use) but the sun where I live is brutal so hopefully they last a few seasons.

Everyday I would go outside and see ants crawling all over my hummingbird feeder. Everyday, I would try my best to figure out how to stop the madness!! I tried numerous things, but a few days later, the ants would return. I searched the internet and found this product. I ordered it and OMG this is genius!! I laugh every time I see it out there at work! No more ants, it is incredible! My hummingbirds love it too, because they don't have to battle the ants either. Buy this if you have an ant problem, you will not regret it!

I bought two and tried them out on my hummingbird feeders. A few months later I bought two more! I love these. They do the trick and keep the nasty ants out of your feeder. The color, shape and size that they are makes them look like a normal part of the feeder. Pretty!

Great little gadget. Have had it for a week and it is keeping ants away. Ruby red color seems to be attracting more hummers too.Had to place tiny rubber bands around bottom of hook to seal off the top, to ensure tiniest ants didn't get through. otherwise would give 5 stars.

This is a very nicely designed moat. I put fresh water in it daily because the Humminbirds and Chickadees drink from it. I wash it very well and regularly by using a clean paper-towel and dawn dishsoap, with hot water. I sometimes soak it in part vinegar, part water to kill any possible lurking bacteria. Vinegar will take a bit of the metal part off if left in full vinegar. I have done it in full and in diluted vinegar (about half water and half vinegar). It just makes me feel better that there is less chance of me getting it contaminated for the birds. It must be cleaned at least every 2 days, In my opinion. I do throw out old water and top it up every day, sometimes every other day. Highly recommend it as it is a nice size for small birds to perch on while if they want a sip of water...very common, from what others tell me, in our birding circle. Nice color as well. Hummers are attracted to red, it seems.

The small gap between the hanger rod and the cup excludes most ants. Any ants making it down the rod to the plastic bail of the feeder still must cross the water moat. In very hot mid August temperatures in Southern California, Argentine ants are everywhere in our yard. (We don't spray pesticides.) Hundreds of ants were passing by within three feet of the feeder when the photo was taken. Another ant cup, under direct sun, 95 degrees, lost only half its water in 24 hours. Use of this product has been effective in deterring Argentine Ants.

I laughed at the size of this when I received it. It is much smaller than I thought. I live in Central NJ and it's all sandy soil swarming with ants. This little red gem is amazing! I have had zero ants in my feeder this year. I tried everything to no avail prior to purchasing this cup. Wish I would have gotten one sooner. Works so well I'm buying another feeder and another one of these awesome ant guards!

Verdaderamente ayudan con las hormigas, antes de tenerlos era un problema con ellas, además se me hace que lucen muy bonitos, ya he comprado tres, los recomiendo ampliamente.

I decided to give this a try since my mom had an ant problem with almost every feeder she had. A couple of the feeders had a built in moat for water to prevent this but all of them didn't work since they were quite shallow and the water easily evaporated. The Droll Yankee ant moat works wonders! It is deep enough to provide water for at least a week without having to refill it and it has kept the ants away from the feeders! Bonus is the hummingbirds do once in a while drink and eat the dead fruit fly's that end up taking a swim in the water. Overall this is a must have for anyone that has an ant problem with there feeders!

Very beautiful just above my hummingbird feeder. No more ants on my feeder since I put it up. Holds a good quantity of water so I don’t have to fill it up every day. Great product

Se ve bien hecho y bastante resistente, el gancho que ya trae está muy práctico.Ya veré si funciona contra las hormigas porque ninguna otra cosa nos ha funcionado para alejarlas del bebedero.**Actualización: hoy encontré hormigas en el bebedero! Pudieron llegar a él aún con la trampa puesta y llena de agua, no hay ningún otro modo de subir, no comprendo cómo fué exactamente, pero me parece que el orificio donde viene insertado el gancho, tiene un espacio suficientemente amplio para que quepan las hormigas y bajen justo por enmedio sin tocar el agua.

Works as advertised and looks lovely. No longer ants in humming bird feeder. Just keep “flower” filled with water and problem solved.
