The Backside of the Story: My Journey into the Black Market Butt Injection Scandal Paperback – August 5, 2014

After watching Kimberly on American Gangster, I took the opportunity to purchase her book and it was a great decision. The read was unstoppable, I couldn’t put it down. Hopefully, we can see her story on the big screen soon.

The book was honest and engaging. It left me wondering where is she now. I was able to see how K. Smedley could get caught up in this business but I also felt that the author put more emphasis on how she wanted to make women beautiful instead of how money was also a serious motivator in her decisions.

This book is a page turner!!! I could hardly put it down. Ms. Kimberly Smedley, took her audience/viewers into her world. Needless to say that it was captivating and engaging at the same time. What I most liked about the book is that she constantly reminded you that was she was doing was illegal and the point that was echoed continuously is that until you know your "self worth ", you will be tossed to and fro like the wind in keeping up with the trend, or trying to fix yourself cosmetically on the inside, but the whole time you need an alignment on the inside with who you are and what you see when you look in the mirror, and not what society tells you (I will be the first to say that it does not happen overnight)-in terms of " beauty". Overall I highly recommend this book. Thank you for allowing us into your life and being transparent.

This was a great read! The author does an excellent job of providing an entertaining book as well as educating everyone on self love and self esteem. The author has reinforced the importance of loving yourself and viewing yourself in a positive way to help others and to have a great life that we all deserve.

I wanted to really like this book but the author’s diction turned me off. Seems like ever other paragraph started with her saying “Honey...” or “Chile...” I even found myself getting annoyed with her referring to the reader that way. I also sensed that she was not always telling the truth, for example she said she toured the island of Costa Rica, uhm, last I checked Cost Rica was part of Central America. Some of her testimonies/stories were a bit far fetch.

She sounds like one of your girlfriend's. The language is relative. I enjoyed the book, and the reflective poems and affirmations. No, she doesn't name any names. Which we all would have loved. However, I enjoyed the book.

Interesting and entertaining read and I enjoyed the authors story. Quick read and hopefully she will write more. Appreciate her encouraging self love.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I found it to be really entertaining. I like the fact that the author did not use the names of the people she performed work on. However if you are up on celebrities you can easily have a good idea of who she is talking about. I like how she enforces body positivity and took the reader through her different mind states throughout the many years she had her “secret” job.

The author is honest and upront and reflects on her bad career decisions openly
