Easiest beard balm to spread
RMB makes the easiest to spread beard balm. Most of the other brands the balm is a lot firmer and takes longer to get into a consistency able to be used on your beard. The RMB balms are ready in a couple second and go in easily with a good smell and all day taming of those fly away hairs.

Combine the scented and unscented.
The sandalwood is far too strong on its own. Your coworkers will smell the sandalwood. The unscented is very bland with an odd wax sort of scent. If you can find a larger tin or reuse your tins. Slowly double boil a scented and the u scented balms in to one. (Yes you have to buy one of each)The combination of scented and unscented is perfect. Not too strong but still pleasant. The balm itself spreads through the beard very nicely and keeps shape well. It tames morning beard with no problems. I straighten my beard as well as my mustache with it.Over all the products are great. Especially once you make your own combination of the two.The combined tins usually last me around six months give or take.

Eh
Smells great, about half the hold strength and quantity for same price as Shea Moisture beard balm I got from Target.

Nice feel but overly strong fragrance, but I don't smell sandalwood or baby powder.
Disappointed. This balm feels good, bit I can't use it because the fragrance is so strong. My wife had to roll the windows down in the car even though I applied the balm conservatively. It doesn't smell like sandalwood--I compared it to the essential oil--or baby powder like some of the reviews say. I checked the ingredients and the other oils listed, like Argon, don't match. I guess it must be the "fragrances" in the ingredients that I'm smelling. I don't wear beard balm to smell pretty. Regardless, it goes in the bottom drawer, next to the cologne my nieces buy me.

Lasting Aroma on a Longer Beard
I purchased RMBC Sandlewood Beard Balm soon after it was released. For the first time I decided to grow my beard out longer than a few weeks worth of growth, always hesitating because of how scraggly I get. While this doesn't paste every last hair down, I have noticed significant improvement as I train it all and the balm helps keep things in place through the evening. I've been applying about a thumbnails worth at a time, I suppose it would manage more mischief if more balm was used.I'm new to the world of nice woodsy scented products and I love this Sandlewood. It does go on a little stronger in the morning, but as the day progresses a pleasant calming aroma drifts into my nose. I have used a few other sample products from other companies, and the scent of this balm outlasts those by a hours. All told, I'd say the scent lasts 12-13 hours. In a less pleasant assessment that is, however, worth mentioning, the flakey dry skin that used to fall from my un-balmed beard is no longer an embarrassing feature on the front of a black winter coat. Remember what this product is made of, you will feel a bit of the residue if you rub your beard all day, but it's not excessive.

and thus far it remains my favorite. The hold is about as good as others ...
I've been experimenting with growing my beard out longer than usual lately, and, as a result, have been experimenting with a few different brands of beard balm. This is the first one I tried, and thus far it remains my favorite. The hold is about as good as others marketed as heavy duty, which is to say it helps tamp down my frizzy beard pretty well in the morning, and softens things it up nicely. Really the stand out feature of this balm is the scent. As both positive and negative reviews have noted it's relatively potent, compared to other balms that fade completely within 30 minutes. With the Rocky Mountain Barber Sandalwood blend there's a notable scent for a few hours. My impression from the other reviews is that your opinion comes down to whether or not you like the scent. My wife and I do. I'm not sure I'd identify it as sandalwood if sampling blind, but it is pleasant. My wife has said that it has a strong vanilla note for what that's worth. In any event, we both like it, and thus this balm is a hit here.
