Best Nerf Revolver
**UPDATE** I have been using this blaster for more than a year now. I still LOVE this blaster. Since my previous review, I have acquired several more blasters. I've also used friends' blasters for fun. But the Hammershot is still my favorite. It is so reliable. When I'm wielding my Hammershot, I feel completely in control. It's lightweight, which makes it easy to run with, which is great in any Nerf war. I'm never more accurate in hitting my target than with my Hammershot. I even built up a reputation in the club I'm in at college for being deadly with it. Now, if you're completely surrounded by zombies, this may not be the best since it only has 5 shots. But if you're teammed with someone that has a higher-capacity semi or full auto, you can make a good team. And if melee is allowed in your HvZ, a Hammershot with a decent sword is a great combo. That being said, I also have new experience in loaning this to kids. At a group Christmas party at a church, I brought all of my blasters for us to have fun with. Everyone had fun, but a few of the younger kids had issues with my hammershot. Now, I did increase the spring tension on my Hammershot, so it's harder to pull back than if you get it straight from the store. Even so, the kids under 7 years old shouldn't make the hammer even budge, and they had a hard time gripping it in one hand, anyway. If you want a blaster for a younger child, I'd recommend a blaster that primes by pulling on a loop with your other hand, something that has a better grip. Previous Review: I LOVE this blaster. I don't have the most experience with nerf blasters (the only others I own are nitefinders and a Maverick - blegh!), but I have shot off a couple of my friends' good quality guns so I'm familiar with the power behind good blasters. And this is a good blaster. If you're looking for a pistol, this is the one I recommend, as long as you like one-handed cocking. If you prefer using 2 hands, I suggest the Strongarm, which has very similar capabilities. In my opinion, if you are looking for a pistol to use as your main weapon, the Hammershot and Strong Arm are the only two you should even bother looking at. -If you are thinking "I've always wanted to kick butt while dual wielding", buy the Hammershot. If you like it, buy another so you can dual wield and feel awesome. -If you are thinking of getting a sidearm, buy the Hammershot. It's less bulky than the Strong Arm so it'll be less annoying when not in use. -If you are thinking of getting a nerf gun for your 3-year-old, do not buy the Hammershot. I've heard a few complaints about difficulty pulling the hammer back with the thumb, but I've personally not had much trouble, especially after getting used to it. It is worth noting that I'm a young adult female with smallish hands - and I'm actually quite weak! Additionally, I modded the spring tension in my blaster, which makes it even slightly harder to pull the hammer, and I never had problems in combat situations. I don't see why you should have a problem pulling it back as long as you get used to the mechanic. (Unless you are a 3-year-old) This gun does have nice accuracy and range, and it is VERY mobile so it's fun to use in combat. I personally like to circle my enemies while running and shooting. Since it only has 5 shots, you need to make them count, so I like to get in close, take a shot, and back off. I recommend that, no matter what you do, have some easy-access darts in secure and easy-to access holders. 5 is not enough in heated combat, and fumbling with loose darts can be deadly.

One of the Better and More Accurate Nerf Guns
Nerf Zombie Strike Hammershot Blaster What a fun Nerf Gun! Good for kids or adults. Never too old in "mind and heart". My "adult" friends and I sometimes get together, and having a few drinks we set up some cans and zombie targets and just shoot away. It is literally a blast using this gun. So much so that this is the second one I bought so that friends could use them. I have tried out a few other nerf (and other brand) shooter guns and this is one of the better ones. Not only can you shoot 5 darts in a row, but it shoots far and is pretty accurate. You still have to cock back the hammer to shoot each dart, but it is quick and easy to do. I know some buyers of other nerf type guns complained that their young ones had a hard time using them. This nerf gun is big for one hand, but I think it is easy to load (if one is the appropriate age that is). I got into nerf shooting because another young guy I know had a 3-shooter and after trying it out, I got hooked. In any event, this is one of the better made nerf shooters for age appropriate kids or for the adult kids at heart who just want to entertain themselves and friends from time to time!

Loads of fun!
I ordered this based off of other peer reviews and for the fact that I found it here in Amazon for less than ten bucks with free shipping. Right place, right time, I guess! 1. The "Cool Factor" is second to none. This thing looks like a post apocalyptic/steam punk six shooter, and functions as such. My nine year old was extremely jealous when I opened the package and said this was "dad's" gun. We immediately began a game of quick draw, and had a blast. Rapid fire is pretty slick: I mean what 37 year man doesn't like pretending he's the Outlaw Josey Wales and rapid fire a six shooter? (Even if it's only five shots). Only thing that would have made it better, is if we had the holster to go along with it. 2. Power and accuracy: for a pistol, this thing has some range and velocity. We were hitting a small snowman on the stairs from nearly twenty feet away...and the darts were hitting with authority! Frosty tumbled down the stairs regularly. Hit the wife a few times while she was running away from us on the other side of the house...about forty feet. Good times... All in all, I can't complain one bit with this nerd blaster. For the price, it was an absolute steal.

A 5-Round old western style NERF revolver!
I personally enjoy using this blaster, though I must admit it's not very powerful and the capacity isn't the highest you can go for a pistol. It's only 5-Darts compared to the Maverick, Disrupter or Strongarm which all have a 6-Dart capacity and shoot harder. The thing that makes this blaster stand out from others is that it's primed by pulling the hammer back, kinda like a old western revolver. This means essentially you can fire it one handed if you're thumb is strong enough, which makes dual-wielding possible. I'm able to prime it one handed no problem, but my 5 year old daughter can't do it. I wouldn't recommend this one for a younger child. There is one rail on the top for any Nerf brand accessories such as scopes or flashlights.

If you know nerf, or are a nerf hobbyist, why are you even reading this? You know this blaster is a legend. I'm a full grown man that hangs out with serious adults. All of them dissolve into children firing this thing around the office. It's incredibly comfortable, good stock performance, nice look, and just damn fun. If you are parent looking for your kid, be aware of a couple of things. First, the priming action can be done with one hand, but it requires bigger hands to do this. The blaster is bigger than it looks. A kid will have to prime with their off-hand, which may ruin the attraction for them. Second, if they can reach the priming hammer, they need enough thumb strength to prime against a moderately strong spring. It's not impossibly tough, but it's also not the easiest. Third, the catch is very sensitive. Even resting a finger lightly on the trigger will stop it from catching. If you have this issue, THE BLASTER IS NOT BROKEN. Simply keep the finger out of the trigger guard during priming. If you want to "fix" it, Foamdataservices on youtube describes a method of deepening the trigger rut with an exacto blade that allows the trigger to go further forward (allowing more of the catch on the trigger to fall under the hammer catch). That aside, I highly recommend it. It's a very sturdy blaster, with a fun and reliable function.
