Inspiring lessons learned
This book is inspiring regardless of one's personal style. In the introduction, editor Carl Dellatore writes, " We all inhabit dwellings of some kind; the more thoughtful the attention we exert upon them, the more our infrastructure - our whole built world - is beautified." This sums up the book's intent - thoughtful beauty and its effect on our living. What collecting and creating can do.

Wow! A beautiful and informative book
I love everything interior design because I want to learn about it. This book is not a particular how-to book (as in how to decorate in Shabby chic, French formal, or Tuscany, etc.); rather it is divided into essays by different designers who each tackle a concept in design. It is really helpful to give a name to a vague feeling I've been dissatisfied about in my design or to understand why I really did something well, or to understand how I could improve a space.Highly, highly recommend.

Joyful!
This book was a spontaneous grab at the library recently, but I ended up rereading it so many times that I purchased my own copy. The layout was so accessible--really stunning photos accompanied by a page or two of text from a master designer--so it was easy to enjoy a bit at a time. Despite not being myself one of the well-heeled homeowners featured in the book, I still found the layouts and descriptions inspiring, and could use them to guide my efforts in my own more modest home. I think the best part of this book was the instant joy I felt as I turned certain pages...I learned a lot about what I instinctively like and don't like, and it made me happy just reading about the thought and feeling behind the rooms featured. Unlike some other design books I've read which are more explicitly instructional, this is one to linger over and absorb from slowly. Highly recommended!

Solid Book with Bad Title
Any time you have a book called interior design when it's an interior decorating book you are starting with a problem. The writer has put together the top interior decorators in the country and selection of their work. However the shots are all wonderful but it's through the lens of the writer and what his tastes are. There is not a varied of decorating work where it is educating folks on real decorating challenges and various interiors issues that have to be overcome. If an interior decorator wants to see some top decorators at the top of their game then this is fine. Great coffee table book.

OUTSTANDING
One of, or not the best design book I've purchased in a long time. Excellent photography and the essays written by the designers is inciteful and educational. Highly recommend.

This book is just beautiful and the scope of the project is amazing
Exquisite! This book is just beautiful and the scope of the project is amazing. The photos are gorgeous, and a wonderful representation of each of the 100 designers essays on their respective subject on design. The editor and creator of the project, Mr. Dellatore has years of experience and has carefully selected the most prestigious group of American interior designers. What I enjoyed most, is that the book is approachable and understandable, even for someone who is not as well versed in design, but very interested in a designers process. It's also a fun journey through the world of design. This book is a must for any coffee table, and also makes a great gift! You won't be disappointed.

The New Interior Design Bible
This is an amazing book. Not only is it beautiful but it's really informative also. I went to a talk in town by the editor Carl Dellatore and the editor of Elle Decor and heard them discuss the book. I've read about half of the essays so far and I've actually learned a lot about design, the design process and about how some designers think. Some of the essays are straight forward like you would expect such as how to think about developing Floor Plans but others are pretty esoteric dealing with inspiration and they are all interesting. My only complaint is that I wish I were well known enough to have been part of this book. LOL.

Beautiful book but print is too small
Beautiful photographs. Beautiful writing. Too-small type. Too small print for even your average person or person with very good vision -- maybe 9.5? I have pretty good vision but definitely need magnifying reading glasses to read this. I suppose the book would have been twice as big and twice as expensive to allow for all the additional paper they'd need to make the print a nice size, but consider this factor before you buy.
