So happy with this book
This is a gem for the price. I'm very happy with my purchase. I bought this for a six-year-old who likes to draw. Clear steps for them to move from simple shapes to a finished drawing. Thirty animals for them to draw so there is a lot of creative juice for them to use to make their own scenes. The author has included a practice page next to each lesson, but it is not really necessary as the kids will want their own drawing paper to use. But I am not an artist; maybe you would want the practice page for your child. Also, these pictures are simple, perhaps cartoonish. If you are searching for a higher level and more realistic shapes, this isn't the book for you. It was perfect for my young grandson just learning to draw.

Simple and cute for young drawers.
Cute easy and basic drawing book. My six-year-old son really enjoys drawing and learning how to draw. I figured this would be a good self-explanatory book, for him to independently practice. The instructions are very simple and basic but the outcomes are cute animals. This is a good drawing book for younger/ early drawers. Each animal comes with a blank page to practice, with a large number of animals to choose from.

Fun for 6 year old grandson
This is an awesome book. It’s easy for kids to follow the illustrious and draw animals on their own. My grandson is very proud of his new drawing ability. Great purchase.

Seems Easier than "How to Draw Pets"
I bought this book along with "How to Draw Pets." There are similar animals in this book (monkey, rabbit, horse, mouse, sheep, pig, dog, cat) but are drawn with a different design. Most of the animals are farm or zoo related. The design of these animals are more simple than the animals in "How to Draw Pets." The difference is there is less focus on texture, i.e. fur/feather development. These drawings are more shape initiated than free-hand. Each project has 4 stages which build upon each other to complete the drawing. Dashed lines indicate lines to be erased due to overlapping. Practice page is include next to each project but the following project is on the back of the practice page. This is for my 6 year old grandson who I also bought a drawing pad to practice on. Tracing paper will help me overcome areas of difficulty. Good book for his age/ability level.

Really great step-by-step guide on how to draw animals
I bought this for a gift for a child that wanted to draw animals and this was PERFECT. She started right away drawing almost every creature in this book. I wish they had this when I was a kid. This coupled with a sketchbook makes a great gift for an artsy your person.

These books are amazing. They break down drawing so anyone can do it. Its so fun to do these with your kids, and compare what you all come up with in your final results :o) The price is great, and it not only provides great instruction, but can be a great way to bond with your kids over a simple activity. I purchased several in this series.

Great learning tool!
The price is unbeatable. I couldn't resist ordering this along with two other books in the How to Draw series. This is a Christmas present. My son and I are learning how to draw together and this series makes it so easy. Looking forward to bonding with my boys! We homeschool and have been drawing every day, creating nice pieces of art work.

Not so easy
Directions or sketches are not the best for beginners
