Just right
I expect to use up maybe four of these notebooks a year; so, every few months starting a fresh one. Because Field Notes has the right number of pages, even a new one is thin and light. I could buy a cheaper notebook that was fat and heavy; but why? I want a notebook that once it is in my jacket pocket I am not thinking about it. For my jeans pocket I prefer the most durable Field Notes Expedition notebook.• For me the Reporter's Notebook is the right format. The pages are tall and college-ruled; so, there is plenty of room for writing. The width fits nicely in one hand while I write with the other. When back at my desk it lays flat while I review my notes.• Everything is of good quality. The slightly heavier than normal paper takes any kind of pencil, pen or marker. I enjoy using a fountain pen with this. The round corners and the wrap-over cover keeps it from catching on anything.• And all the reporter's reference materials decorating the cover take me back to the days when I worked on my college newspaper. The flexible yet durable cover seems just right to me. And the pocket on the back cover is useful for keeping receipts, business cards, etc.• If all I cared about was price per page then this would not be my first choice. What I value, however, is how well this will be right for me. And by that measure this is what I choose.

Contact me, Field Notes, you are very close and I can help you get there.
It's a great F&B server notebook; the cover is nicer and more durable than standard reporters notebooks and the pocket in the back is perfect for holding credit card printouts. The fun info tidbits are amusing, and the blue band holding the 2-pack together has a truly hilarious quotation that every server will understand. My beef? All that hipster ephemera is a value-add that can't be justified by the cover price. No pun intended. These things are $12 on the earnestly curated Field Notes website, so the two-for-one price here is technically a bargain, but not next to the standard notebooks.. I'm looking for a way to hang on to the cover and thread in a much cheaper reporters notebook when this one runs out. I'm sorry, Field Notes, practical application matters, and price is part of that. Your product line and approach are very close to very good, but not quite there. Contact me. I'm a third generation entrepreneur and I fix product and marketing misfires just like this. .

Take Note
Ordered these for my husband so he can keep track of his CME's and keep detail information for each case he has. I didn't know there was such a notebook as a Reporter's Notebook. It is light but has a great hardcover for durability and the size is perfect for carrying in a pocket rather than Steno Pad.

Love all about these!
One going into each vehicle for notes, jots, and thoughts. Always need a pad!! way better that writing on envelopes, receipts, and scraps of paper that get thrown out or blown away when the door opens.
