Great idea if it worked like it is advertised
The description was misrepresented, though it appears that some of the description has been changed for some sellers now. I bought this because it said that I would receive an alert when the garage door was opened, or motion was detected within the garage and that I would be able to open and close my garage door by my smart phone and would be able to review and share “ recorded history events” ( when an alarm aka: motion was detected or door opened or closed), and would be able to set up schedules to “arm” and “disarm” the opening of the garage door, thus preventing the use of the garage door during night time hours. I was counting on this to 1) schedule “safe” times to prevent the door from being engaged and 2) in case that failed, and during “disarmed” day hours, to alert me to when and if my child with autism , entered the garage and attempted to “ wonder” as the garage would grant access to an unsecured yard , ponds, and traffic.Well first, as it stands, it does not record events and you cannot share . To do this you need a bunch of expensive extras (sold separately) as well as pay for the monthly premium service.2nd, the arming and disarming description is deceiving, as you cannot prevent the actual opening or closing of the door during “ armed” times.Instead rather, to “arm” only means to receive alerts when The camera senses motion.3rd, the motion detection on this is crap! For example, I can walk in directly in front of the camera jump and wave around like a crazy person and receive no alert that motion has been detected. But when headlights pass by ...I get an alert ! So imagine getting an alert that motion is detected at 3am thinking your special needs child is outside or worse, an intruder! You look at your phone and see the live camera and see nothing, so you wonder are they where the camera can’t see or is it the incredible long lag time at work again and you just can’t see them yet?! What do you do? Run out to get your kid before he opens the door and takes off and take your chances that the boogeyman isn’t lurking in the corner waiting for you to come out? FYI, I played with the sensitivities of the camera without success, I have just disabled all the alerts. So my main 2 reasons for purchasing this item , useless.4th, the camera is not great at all, didn’t expect it to be, I didn’t need it to be, its black and white ,blurry , has an ok night vision , but if someone was in my garage there are motion lights that would activate ( it’s how I figured out all the false alarms were headlights not people!) but like I stated before there is a huge lag between what is happening in front of the camera and what is showing on your phone.it often freezes and lost connections are frequent. Even worse when you are not in the Home on the same WiFi network.5th, so ok, so it’s useless for the reason I purchased it, but I can at least remotely access my garage door to grant access when need be right? Like to allow a neighbor in to feed the cat while you are away ? ( would have liked to get an alert and review the camera footage to make sure it was just my neighbor , or to know that they actually did come and feed the cat when they said they did, but we already discussed how that wasn’t happening) Don’t count on it ! It is unreliable at best. So unreliable that I would not use the remote access for anything but closing the door for fear that if the app was successful in opening the door, it would flake out and not close it. More times than not , the trigger to open or close the door does not work.I spoke with the people at home8 on multiple occasions and though they were friendly and appeared eager to help, ( spending hours over multiple days on the phone and online chat, troubleshooting and promises to replace the equipment with the newer upgraded models, etc.) nothing has come from their promises to make things right.

Monthly plan
Overall it works ok. Picture quality is not great. It is black and white unless it’s really bright in the room. The reason I only give it 2 stars is it requires you after a trial period to purchase a monthly plan in order to see when motion was detected.

Feels like a scam
Feels like a scam. After a month, you require a subscription to view video. WHY, I own the equipment. DON'T buy. Better products are out there.

Only one person can access the opener on the garage ...
Only one person can access the opener on the garage unless you pay a monthly fee. If I had know that I would not have purchased it.

I got very scared and looked for a good device reading all reviews
I bought this security system for my garage because I came late at night and didn’t realize I had left the door opened. I got very scared and looked for a good device reading all reviews. It was very easy to install and Im very happy looking at my garage door when not sure if I closed. The best part is that I can ck it from anywhere from my iPhone. I’m waiting to tested from Europe next month. I highly recommend Home8.

App's interface is also pretty terrible.
App takes a very long time to register your product, I had to keep tapping the phone to keep it from going to sleep while waiting for it to find/register the unit during setup. Took over 5 minutes. Also, when you tap the open/close button on the app, it doesn't always register. Usually takes about 2-3 tries for it to work. App's interface is also pretty terrible.

Not bad
I like I can monitor to see if my garage door is open or closed. The camera is fair. I don't like you have to pay so much for cloud storage. I refuse to pay what they are asking so I don't use the video storage. Other than that I am happy with the product overall.

Would not recommend. Installation was difficult
Awful. Would not recommend. Installation was difficult, picture quality once I did have it installed was poor and the garage door feature just never bothered to sync with the app or my home network.
