I use this mic arm at work for video chat calls and for capturing dialogue for on-screen demo recordings. My primary criterion for this use case were 1) the ability to quickly move it in and out of position to keep my workspace clear when not in use, 2) strong fixtures that hold the microphone in place, eliminating constant readjustment, and 3) high-quality build. This arm meets them beautifully. I leave all of the joints unlocked, which means that I can instantly swing it over to join a video call. However, leaving them unlocked means that if you bump it from below, you may possibly lift one of the arms from its seating. The upper arm and ball head clamps are not the most high-quality I've ever used (the tightening motion gets a bit jerky as the pressure increases), but they hold well. The cable channels are an excellent design feature and make for a very clean look, though if you have a tough XLR cable, certain motions may cause the cable to dislodge the magnetic channels. The table clamp is fantastic — wide, padded surface area and high-quality machine screw. I'm currently using it to hold an Audix VX10, but I'm confident that it would hold a Shure SM7b, though perhaps with not as much strength as say a Rode PSA1-type of arm (due to the size of the ball head).Definitely worth the $100 I spent on it!

Previously I used this scissor arm: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CN2C93T, and this one blows it out of the water in every way.Range of motion: The old one wasn't straight like this one is, so the range of upward motion was limited before the arm would hit the monitor, now the mic avoids the monitor and can be placed exactly where it should be.Cable management: I had my cabled strapped down onto my old arm, and I never realized how messy it looked until I threaded the cables through this one, it looks so much tidier now!Getting the mic where it matters: I have a directional mic, it has to be close and right in front of my face. With my old arm I had to compromise to get it into place. I had it low (almost hitting the keyboard) and several inches from my face. Moving it out of the way was a bit of a hassle too so I just left it there. With this new arm, The mic can lean right towards me, completely out of the way of my keyboard, and moving it is as easy as just pushing it out of the way, no worries about it hitting a monitor or anything.Sturdiness/Support: The old arm had all the weight placed on a small metal bar that slotted into its clamp. Eventually this bar would bend under the pressure and it would cause the arm to sag. The scissor arm also tends to make noise and jiggle when my desk is disturbed. This new arm has a much sturdier way of slotting into its clamp. It's much harder to disturb it, and jiggling my desk will cause my monitor to move moreso than this arm.All in all, they nailed it when it comes to a design that works around monitors. You don't have to sacrifice typing space because a bulky arm is hanging over your keyboard. You don't have to block a portion of your screen. You can move the arm smoothly out of the way when you don't need it. The clamp is nice and wide so it should fit on most desks. Between the ball joint and angling the arm, you can accommodate a wide range of configurations. Super easy to set up, it looks great and even comes with adapters to fit your mic mount. Love this product and would recommend it to anyone.

The Elgato Wave Mic Arm LP is great quality overall, especially at the price of $70-75 USD. The parts are (mostly) metal, the magnets of the cable covers are strong although the covers may excessively bend the cable, the tension system does the job, and the ratchet of the clamp has good ergonomics. Plus, the screw is versatile with camera support and a large customizable range of motion. The main flaw is that the clamp might not be able to support heavier microphones to the best of its ability.My microphone is from Shure and weighs around 500-600 grams according to their manual, a bit lighter than the industry standard SM7B at 760 grams. The boom arm drops a bit when setting the height of the second, so you have to account for that by raising it higher. The larger issue is that the clamp may slip gradually if you have the arm outward away from the table. My clamp's padding has been ripped on top and displaced on the bottom because of the gradual movement due to the microphone's weight.Again, the boom arm is satisfactory, but it's not the cleanest experience and would like to see the clamp avoid ripping and moving the padding due to the microphone's weight. I recommend this boom arm, overall.

I'm not a streamer or content creator, but I'm a longtime World of Warcraft player. My guild raids three nights per week, using Discord for comms. For years, I've used headsets which, in my experience, are bulky, hot and uncomfortable for extended use. I picked up the Elgato low profile boom arm for use with a Shure SM57 I had lying around, and it's been fantastic. I previously had a more typical mic boom arm/desk mount in which the articulated arm arches upward, and it was so in-your-face and disruptive of sightlines, that I quickly gave up on it and went back to the headset.Then I learned about low profile boom arms. To be honest, the only reason I picked the Elgato was because it had same-day delivery available through Amazon. But I'm glad I did. It's sturdy (not that an SM57 is a particularly heavy load, but even pushing down on the arm, you can tell it's solidly built with hardly any flex), it's easy to adjust, it doesn't block sightline to the monitor and it's easy to push the mic completely out of the way when not in use. It clamps easily to the desk edge. If there's one negative, it's that it doesn't include a mounting plate for mid-desktop surface installation (if you have or are willing to put a hole in the top of your desk like I am). Fortunately, Elgato does sell such a mounting plate, which I will eventually grab, but... it would have been nice if they'd included it, rather than making it an upsell. Probably a non-issue for most people, but at least they have a solution for those who want it.I've started using it for Zoom meetings for work, as well, and it's nice to have something that doesn't block visibility or your face and still be able to use a much better mic than what you'd find on a headset. I also considered a low profile Shure mount by Gator, which includes the aforementioned mounting plate and a threaded extension adapter and is probably a slightly better deal, but as I mentioned... the Elgato got here faster, so it won. In the end, it works perfectly and I have no regrets.

TLDR;Totally worth it, you definitely get a very high-quality product and will make your setup look super clean and will save a lot of space on your desk when you are not using the mic.---------It may not be a very necessary accessory but once you use it you can't live without it. The very slim design makes it very practical and convenient and definitely saves a lot of space. I'm a developer and use it (with a HyperX quad cast S) while working for meetings and programming to free up space on my desk and find very convenient that whenever I need to speak and type at the same time the mic can be in front of me kind of floating and capturing my voice while I can type on my keyboard without cables or devices in the middle. Won't say it makes me more productive but definitely makes my working experience better. I originally bought it just to save space and because I was told that an arm for my mic would help reducing the sound of my keystrokes during meetings, but it had many more benefits.The esthetics are another big factor, it definitely looks and is a high-quality product. People have noticed it during meetings not because they actually see the arm but because either the setup looks very clean or because they don't see where the mic is.Extra points would be that it looks very fancy and pro when the camera shows how you move the arm.

Bought this mic arm to clean up my desk. Switched from a traditional mic stand to this, and it's so much better! I have the mic arm clamped to the side of my desk. It stretches across the bottom of my second monitor so the mic sits below my camera when not in use. Then, when I need it, I can just pull it toward me, tip the mic up toward my face, and I'm ready to go.It's well made, and heavier than I expected, which is good. Attaching the mic and threading the mic cord through the arm was also easy. The top side of the arm pieces are magnetic, so you just take them off, stick the cord inside, and pop them back on — and the magnets are really strong. Overall the look is very clean. I did add one black zip tie at the top to keep the cord from ticking out.Over time, I have found that even though I tighten the arm to hold the position, it slowly starts to sag and I have to re-adjust and tighten it all again. But that's maybe once or twice a month.
