The weights do not fall off as they slide on the narrower section of the hook and slide down where it's wider and they can't come off without being intentionally lifted off (or I guess if it gets turned upside down and shaken around. These have been useful in my classroom.

I prefer these over 1 big pattern weight because they work more easily for half scale patterns. They also work better for patterns that are more spread out. Overall good product and fair price at $13

These are cute but not heavy enough to hold down fabric, which is what I bought them for.
