This shield works great! If you have a big batch of dough this keeps it from climbing up the dough hook and making a mess of the attachment area. This simple little plastic disk makes a huge difference. I especially like to use it when I am mixing dough for sourdough bread. It keeps the dough from running up the dough hook shaft and making a mess. You don't have to stop the mixer and clean it every few minutes either. I feel like it gives a more thorough mixing since it pushes everything back downward into the bowl. I love it and it has become standard equipment on our stand mixer now.
