Nice set, durable, sound good
We have had our three-instrument set for a few months now. They have been played with by a three-year-old, six-year-old, and their many friends. We find the instruments in the bottom of a toy chest, the back of a closet, and in various piles around the house. We have witnessed them being thrown at walls, stepped on, and dropped. Through all this, they have been tough enough to stay in shape and not break. They are, however, made of fairly thin plastic, so I do expect that they will break someday. But with all the abuse they have taken, I am very happy with my purchase! My two young boys love to give concerts with them and march through the house in their pretend marching band parades. They actually sound pretty decent too! As a musician, it is important to me that any play instruments in the house are actually on pitch. These are tuned fine for me.Update: April 2021 and the kids still love to play with these. Holding up well.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
We bought this for our grandson, who owns REAL stringed instruments and knows how to care for such things. Of the three instruments (not sure which one, as he lives out of state), one arrived with a crack on the bell part of the instrument. His mom wasn't too concerned about it, he was very excited to get three instruments that he could learn to play. Well, the crack became worse and completely "severed" the bell. The saxophone lost an entire strip of the finger pads. They did not fall off individually, just the strip came off the neck of the instrument. All of this happened in less than TWO DAYS. My daughter asked how much we paid for the set, thinking just a couple of dollars. When I told her, she said they were certainly not even worth a tenth of that, they were less quality than what you could get at a Dollar store. If I was tech savvy, I would include the pictures she sent. We ordered them a while before his birthday, and I just made the return time frame window to get a refund. That was easy, no complaints there at all. But to have such a price on such a poor quality toy instrument is ridiculous. Save your money and don't disappoint your child.

Fun for all!
My husband and I are very musical and we have tried to encourage our musically inclined kids (4.5, 3, 1.5) to have fun with instrument toys. These are definitely children’s sized, but both my husband and I were able to play them. In order for a sound to come out, at least one of the keys must be pressed. The clarinet and the saxophone can play a full scale and are in tune with each other. The trumpet is the same key, but only plays four notes. I understand the limitations of a brass children’s toy. The toys have been played frequently and only one of the instruments has had a broken part. One of the keys snapped off the clarinet, so it will now play that note with just blowing. The keys are just plastic, so I expect the more we use the toys, the more this might happen. The key did snap off as a child was closing a drawer, not as it was being played. The loudness of the instruments is tolerable and not really very loud compared to what a real instrument could be. Overall, we are very satisfied with this purchase.

Cheap
These were purchased as gift for my son. He absolutely loved them. They instantly became his favorite toy to play with. Unfortunately these instruments are made with very thin cheap plastic and broke within a week. The first instrument broke the first day he got them. It's not worth the money for them.

JUST TOO BREAKABLE!!
ORIGINAL FIVE STAR REVIEW (December 27): As musical toys for our two year old who LOVES instruments, these really are not bad at all! The quality of the materials, as others have pointed out, is not great. But they are actual instruments - you can play different notes, and notes in combination to make chords. While playing easily takes a little practice (you kind of have to blow and press a note on the saxophone at the same time), our two year old got it within a few minutes. These are no doubt more breakable than we'd prefer - pieces have come off - and been put back on - over the three days we've had the instruments. Still, we're pretty pleased that these are 'real' instruments that he can play music on.UPDATE (December 30): Downgraded from five to two stars. After FIVE DAYS of play, two out of three instruments are irreparably broken. They're a great *idea* for a toy, but the cheap execution is just too shoddy.

Best gift!
I thought my husband would kill me gifting these to my (now) 11 yr old son bc of off key use, play, and practice. However, I'm so glad I did purchase this darling, durable set bc my son absolutely loves each piece and loves learning how to play. He's actually getting very good learning on his own from online videos. They have a good, clean sound and are not shrill or a waste of money. He plays on at least one every day.Great gift!

Expensive and terrible quality!
My 5 year old is obsessed with musical instruments, even though he got some real instruments for Christmas, we only allow him to use them with supervision. I thought these would be great for him to just play with whenever he wants....I should have paid more attention to other reviews. Not only are they extremely difficult to blow and get any sound, they are incredibly cheaply made, the sax and clarinet are already broken 2 days after Christmas. Save your money and look elsewhere or just spend a bit more and get a real instrument!
