Review: This book is a must for "New Guys" to be on your shelf, and give you a quick reference. It is jamb packed with information! It is non-technical, practical and written by a technical guy. There are many things I have learned in "fixing things" and I come up with novel ways of doing it, but this guy is good! If you work with both hand tools and power tools, as I do, you may neglect a tool and find it rusty. Inside this book is alchemey magic for the small shop. Reversing the rusting process! Each page has something for us. It also tells me why, and if I want more, the facts behind it. Only one draw back, but it probably kept the cost of this book affordable. I'd like it to be on better paper, and have a few more pictures of what the project or technique looks like, so I can have a visual reference point. Review: This book is bought on desertcart.de and it is in imperial measurments (inches, fractures)..it is useless in metric countries.

I bought both books (Essential Facts and More Essential Facts). For me the chapters on wood strength, shelf loading and (especially) torsion boxes were worth the price of the books. I can see that I'll be consulting various other chapters while designing future projects. I probably wouldn't tell a beginner to start here, though.

Of all the books in my handyman's secrets collection, this one is the best. In a class of its own. Great facts, shortcuts, and procedures that I never really thought people could do at home. Written in clear language and fully illustrated. Really useful guide. ---John

I loved the first book... and was hoping for either more depth in the areas covered in that one or new essential topics... but, what this one should be called is "Woodworker's Fun but NOT Essential". Its all interesting, if and when you have the time, but if you wanted a book full of more stuff you regularly need, this is not it--or at least most of it isn't. I want to give it more stars, because honestly I use the first book all the time, but this is going to sit on the shelf until I am retired and I guess bored. If buyers really do think they want this book, I'd encourage them to just look at the table of contents first.
