My Eset Review
So far so good. I switched to Eset because of all the irritating reminder messages I used to get from my two previous "high end" antivirus softwares. I found Eset easy to install and haven't had a single problem with it to date. Of course, I took extra care to make sure any previous antivirus software was removed first. I'm curious to see what happens when it's time to renew, but I'm being optimistic. I would recommend this software, but one should keep in mind I've only been using it for a few months. Wow! A year has passed and sure enough, my Eset is sending irritating messages to me daily to make sure I remember to buy more, buy more. I like to feel like I'm not being led around on a leash when I need to update my software, but I will say that ESET is not as irritating as the other two top contenders. Other than the daily messages to renew, I will say the software has done an excellent job for me. It's such a shame this software company can't give you an option to check a box to avoid reminder messages. It feels like an invasion from the very company you expect protection from when you don't want pop-ups. Will I eventually renew this product? Yes.

Will not work with VISTA SP2. Unbelievable. Uninstall problems, too.
Well, spent a couple hours today figuring out why my ESET 4 quit working and gave unhelpful error messages about not being able to update. Apparently, they didn't plan on VISTA SP2 and they do not work together. So, I wasted a bunch of time because this company was NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME with a major release from Windows. Unbelievable. I was already not terribly impressed but hoped it was a good enough product. Silly me. To make such a huge error that must have screwed up many peoples' computers in addition to mine bodes poorly for whatever is going on with this company. (It also gives a message in uninstall that seems to suggest uninstall will fail. That threw me off. I figured you you just need to select "ignore" when that pop up comes up saying you don't have permission to access/stop a key file.) Comparatively, I've had not troubles for some time with either the current Norton products, or with Avast. I would avoid ESET unless you like more hassles to figure out on your PC. Well, there is more since the above post. It seems that I was not able to successfully uninstall the non working ESET from my computer, either. IT's very hard to uninstall. From what I've seen on the internet, I may have to roll back to SP1 just to remove this stupid software, and then reupdate to SP2. Amazing screw up on their part.

over rated
The anti-virus and associated protection can be found a lot more affordable. The install was difficult and Eset customer service was contacted only to be informed I needed to download file assistant links. When starting up the pc, Eset Nod32 takes longer than previously used protection. Also purchased additional memory in attempt to ease the upstart.

Nod 32 ver 4 still to determine final decision
I've used the version 3 and I was delighted with the way it performed. Yes, it was fast and did not slow down or bogged down my computer in comparison to other anti virus I've used previously. I own an older Dell Dimension 8300, 40 gb hd, w-Xp home, but upgraded to 3 gb ram; -which is the reason I choosed Nod 32 because it is not a memory hog. With Nod 32 ver. 3, it gave me adequate speed. But when I renewed to Nod 32 ver 4, I was disappointed when I ran both "smart scan" and "custom scan." because it was very, very slow. I emailed the company and they suggested I upgrade to ver 4.2 for free, but still, "custom scan" took longer than 4 hours to complete as it did before the upgrade, while "smart scan" took one hour plus, to complete. Although I might add, there are other times when "smart scan" scans in less than 10 minutes. At this time, I'm still experimenting with it. But on the other hand, I don't know if there are other AV out there that works faster than Nod 32 without bogging down the computer to a snail crawl. Frankly, I don't know if it is my computer or the softwarwe itself or else there is a conflict with my Spyware Doctor. Because Nod 32 also includes anti-virus. I know I'm not saying much here; ....I'm just puzzled.

Nothing works better.
I swear, nothing works better than this product. I used to handle abuse complaints as a technician, and had to open links to web pages that contained all sorts of malicious coding. Same thing with spam or phishing emails, or other emails that actually contained harmful data. On the machines they used at that company to handle the abuse complaints, they used NOD32... And nothing got infected or corrupted from any form of malicious coding during the time I was working there on those machines. So now I use this on my personal machines, and recommend this to my family and friends, and install it on all the computers I build or upgrade, work on, etc, whenever possible. Nobody I know, who has a current version of NOD32 installed, has ever had problems with spyware, worms, viruses, trojans, etc. since installing this software.

Best AV is the one you never notice
After using Norton for several years and noticing how it constantly would drain more and more of my system resources I decided to get rid of it. I did some research and Nod32 came up at the top of many lists of great AV software so I picked it up. Installation was easy and I've been running it for about 3 weeks now without any issues. It protects my computer and runs quietly in the background without making a dent in my system resources. Overall, this thing is awesome.

Best of the kind
I have used the version 4 for a year and I am very satisfied. I was so weary of those virus, even while using other antivirus, that I did a lot of research and finally settled for this one. In one year, I have had no problem at all. I have a vista laptop. The antivirus runs smoothly in the background and updates itself. It does not take up a lot of memory and it is very simple to figure out. Thanks ESET.
