Just before stubborn millionaire Edwina Cutwater dies, she asks her uptight lawyer, Roger Cobb to amend her will so that her soul will pass to the young, vibrant Terry Hoskins ? but the spiritual transference goes awry. Edwina enters Roger's body instead, forcing him to battle Edwina for control of his own being. Review: What REALLY counts, for a laugh . . . - Excellent film, Steve Martin never better (robbed of at least an Oscar nomination), with Lily Tomlin a worthy foil. Have the old/original Gold Reel dvd, and was excited when announced a bluray was getting released, June 2025. Well that proved a disappointment, as it is not available via desertcart, though bluray.com said it would be, and is available via e**y at gouging prices, from individuals that somehow from somewhere amassed several copies. V*****n video, on whose site you can pay a total of $27 for this one title, is the blu distributor: a purveyor of what appears to be B movie slasher films, but on bluray! Ugh, maybe I won't purchase this blu. imho, THIS IS A VERY FUNNY AND CLEVER FILM. Do yourself a cost-saving favor and spent the $10 or less for the lowly dvd: you won't laugh any less, I guarantee you. But curious, I bought a new 2nd copy last week, $6, and there are NO subtitles on it. My older dvd has english subs, which are quite large and higher up on screen: so if unneeded, I don't use 'em! Also, it is full not wide screen, but again, funny doesn't need an expensive shiny and fat presentation. And lest you miss extra features -a modern day cottage industry if there ever was one- be content with owning just the movie that you saw in the theater in 1984 . . . (and with the money saved, you can buy a dvd copy or two for friends: spread the mirth!) Review: Love the movie, but poor transfer and misleading package - I highly recommend this wonderful comedy, which I somehow missed when it first came out. Lots of slapstick, as you'd expect from Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin (and director Carl Reiner) in 1984. But there's also great chemistry between the leads, and even more importantly, a wonderfully warm and touching story. I recommend it highly to anyone who enjoys a good laugh and can still watch a movie that lacks explosions, shaky cam, or fast cuts and oversaturated colors. However, be prepared for a less than high-quality transfer. It looks like a 16:9 movie panned and scanned to 4:3, and transferred from a not especially clean source -- you can even see a fair amount of dirt on the screen in two scenes. Also, the disk lacks the special features listed on the box, such as subtitles, trailer and cast & crew info. In fact, the chapter list on the box doesn't match the chapters on the disk (24 listed on box, 16 on disk with different names). The box lists Trimark Gold Reel Collection, but the rather generic looking disk says Lions Gate. Nevertheless, this seems to be the only copy around, and it's certainly worth watching!

The Funniest First Half of Any Movie Ever Made
With the direction of Carl Reiner, Martin plays a guitar playing lawyer who brings a dog to the office. He is sent to change the will of Edwina Cutwater,(Lilly Tomlin) who believes that because she is rich she can send her body by way of a swami Praca Laka, when she dies, into the body of a beautiful con artist girl,(actually Martin's wife at the time) When Edwina dies, her body misses the mark and hits Martin on the head and Tomlin takes over the right side of his body. Martin's efforts to deal with this, to get her out of him are the funniest set of film comedy I've ever seen. Martin's gyrations and contortions are pure comic genius. The ending peters out but the first half is Carl Reiner's best work with Martin and Tomlin. Funny and as sweet love story as they end up together. Martin and Tomlin- A list actors at the top of their gameVery highly recommended!

A very funny comedy
Steve Martin at his best! Lily Tomlin, when complimented on her great performance in this movie, asked, "which scenes were your favorite?" She was then kind enough to point out that the scenes being referred to were usually ones in which Steve acted alone... pretending to be occupied spiritually by Lily at the time. Whether Steve is trying to learn to walk (with Lily's spirit controlling half of his body) or pretending to be asleep while Lily uses his body and tries to act "like a man", his physical comedy knows few equals. The other characters in the movie add to the charm and humor. This is an altogether pleasant experience to add to your shelf of DVDs. You'll find yourself laughing out loud and smiling a lot.

It doesn't play. It says the country code doesn't match. And this website is too confusing to ask for a refund. Can someone please contact to arrange a replacement. Thank you
