So for the wide angle lens do we need a step up ring like it says in the reviews or is it already attached to the macro as well?

No need setup ring, and you just attach wide angle lens on macro lens, you can get wide angle lens effect.

My not-sony camera lens is 52mm, threaded for lens filters. Will the threaded lens fit into other standard threaded lenses that are 52mm?

Generally, I would say yes. However, it's hard to give a definitive answer since you could have some weird thread pitch that is uncommon. Having said that, I find that other 52 mm threaded accessories screw onto the ulanzi adapter without a problem. Good luck!
