Fascinating....
I needed this book for a college course. A fascinating read all about "rationalization". I was unfamiliar with the concept, and this book really has some wide-reaching ramifications in our society, both globally and domestically. HIGHLY recommend this book.

Nice Read
I took sociological theory classes at the U of Maryland from George Ritter and he is brilliant. This book has been updated to match the times and it really makes you think about things deeply and exposes a lot too

Well Done!
I didn't realize what a profound sociologist Ritzer is. His work applying (and explaining) Max Weber's work has been a godsend in trying to understand this complex stuff. although I haven't read through a lot of this so far, his application and extension of Weber's work is a fresh, compelling read.

and eyeopener on the condition of society and how McDonald's like manufacturing and treatment can be found nearly in all ...
This was a very interesting textbook. Certainly, and eyeopener on the condition of society and how McDonald's like manufacturing and treatment can be found nearly in all aspects of life. I did not like the text layout at all, I found the text layout to be wordy which made it difficult to keep my eyes on. I needed this textbook for a class, but it would be good for casual reading as well. It's very informative!

Annotation Happy
This is a good read, although the book I received had so many annotations it was distracting. I am all for previous owner's notes, but this person obviously had no idea how to annotate correctly and its a little difficult to focus on the text.

Food for thought
This book was required reading for one of my college classes. It was interesting and thought-provoking. I read it twice. It presents a balanced perspective on the double-edged sword of huge corporations and how they affect our thinking and behavior as consumers.
