Q: what are the cylindrical sliders that tighten the straps to the eyeglass frame made of? Metal could scratch the lenses if left attached in a case.

The loops themselves are a smooth plastic. They are held together by some metal. I fold up my glasses and wrap the straps around the nose piece. Never have any problems with scratching.

Q: How do you attach to eyeglasses?

The small loop at each end attaches to the glasses’ ear pieces. You have to slide them on, tighten them by pushing up on the knot that holds the loop, and push them wherever you feel comfortable in wearing them with tour glasses.
