Q: how do control the heat setting?

My wife said when she turns it on, it comes on at 370. She holds the right button down and it resets to 188.

Q: Does the clamp have a spring to keep it closed?

Yes, it does. Really impressed so far with this iron.

Q: Is this a non stick curling iron?

I love, love, LOVE this curling iron! It doesn't pull my hair or hold onto it unless I want it to (by holding the clip down). It has a 24k gold ceramic mineral complex barrel for constant heat, and I love that is has no preset temps--meaning the user can set the temp according to her own needs. I have fine hair that requires a lower temp, which is about 330 for my hair. But it can be set as high as 450 as needed. I couldn't be happier! Can't imagine anyone having a problem with this one.
