Taking away two stars because of the ending
This hyped me up for the ending. Well written fun book with a vengeful protagonist. Her story telling and choice of words was so entertaining and I was waiting for her to get the closure. The rightfully deserved closure, but the ending snatched away the closure not just from the protagonist but also the reader. It was unnecessary and a bad way to add a twist. I read it in two days, only to come to an ending that I despised. Worst way to end a book. I'll not recommend.

Dark and Funny - a unique combo!
Often when you see a book title and cover, you think you know the direction the story will take. It will be predictable, and within that formulaic storyline, you will find entertainment and relaxation. And then comes a book like this where your assumptions fall flat after a few plot twists and you are left satisfied at having being proven wrong.Grace Bernard has been in prison since 14 months. And she’s quite irritated about it. Why, you ask? Is she innocent? Au contraire! She has killed six people. The problem is that she got away with all those murders, and is in prison for a crime she didn’t commit. The irony! What follows is a heartfelt and humorous confession of sorts with Grace revealing what made her kill her family members and how she “executed” her plans.A major chunk of the story comes to us via a journal that Grace is writing in prison to divulge her outrage at having being unfairly imprisoned. This journal broadly contains three elements: Grace’s background about why her family became her target, her modus operandi behind the crimes, and her life in prison. Each of these is interestingly written with a great deal of sarcasm and practicality. The book goes by very fast because of her candid approach about her offences.Grace is such an interesting character. As most of the book is in the first person perspective of Grace, you will enjoy being in her mind as she unveils her life story. For one, it was refreshing to see a lead character acknowledge that she was attractive, such a refreshing change from all those beauties who seem unaware of their appeal until a man convinces them otherwise. Grace is also meticulous in planning out her tasks. The sincerity with which she plans out her targeted murders is simultaneously admirable and scary. She actually delights in her crimes, but she isn’t a psychopath. She is judgemental but justifies her critiques with a solid reasoning. This is one confusing character who will still make a mark on your heart. The story is dark and gruesome but Grace’s macabre deeds are overshadowed by her wittiness. The humour in the book is quite acerbic and tongue-in-cheek. I especially enjoyed those barbs at SM influencers in the Briony section. Couldn’t stop myself laughing at Grace’s hashtags!Overall, this is an easy-going book that seems predictable until you see that it is not quite as you thought. Pick it up when you want some light-hearted humour with dark twists.Trigger Alert: Spoiler Ahead: (Some of the content contains details of BDSM, so if that gets your goat, consider yourself warned.)The one thing I wish I could change about the book: its cover. That bland salmon pink cover just doesn’t do justice to this story. I would have preferred it bolder and darker.A 4.25 from me.I received a complimentary copy of this book at my request and these are my honest thoughts about it.

Left with a bad aftertaste
The book was so good that I didnt understand why readers rated it low . I was looking forward for a great ending . I enjoyed the revenge but at the end the whole experience was taken away with a so called plot twist . I am all for plot twists and shocking revelations but this book left me with a terrible aftertaste . I regret picking this up . The whole plot was all for naught . The author did the heroine bad . You made a random man win at the end and all her sufferings were thrown for a toss . Unbelievable.

It's Mackie's first novel and was a fine try.
The book had good comical references but had a couple of drawbacks. First of all at some points I felt the scenes were being exaggerated. The worst part was the plot twist at the end which was the most awaited part for me. It disappointed me and made me irritated. The flow was going well in the middle of the book but I also felt that I was pushing myself a little to finish it.

Book Review
How To Kill Your Family" spins the tale of Grace, set on getting back at the family that did her wrong and snagging their fortune, all while dealing with a wrongful murder rap. The book's got an interesting start that grabbed my attention, but it lost me a bit after the first murder. I had pretty high hopes, thanks to the catchy title, earning me some curious looks from my family whenever they spotted it.What clicked for me in this book was the detailed scenes. If you're into thorough descriptions of places and characters' thoughts, this one's up your alley. It stands out with its mix of sarcasm and humor, a bit of an oddity in the mystery genre. Just imagine this scene: reading a book named "How to Kill Your Family" in public, having a chuckle here and there – people probably thought I was a bit eccentric. On the flip side, what didn't quite hit the mark for me was the ending. Without giving anything away, my metaphorical serial killer mind had big expectations. Despite that totally loved this book, it had me hooked till the last scene!

Muito enrolado
Livro com bom potencial, mas achei muito enrolado, com inúmeros detalhes irrelevantes. Além disso só ficou interessante no meio pro final. Não curti a reviravolta do final, que também foi um tanto extensa sem necessidade.

Loved the book. Hated the ending. Needs a sequel.
I really enjoyed this book. Written in first person present, the most enjoyment came from the person reading the audiobook—well persons, since there were actually two. That made all the difference for me. I was never bored, the story never lagged, and I looked forward to the proper climactic ending—that never came. Here I am two days later, almost angry, because of the lack of closure. The ending of this book gave me heartburn especially since I spent hours listening. A sequel perhaps? You allowed him to steal her thunder. At least give her the decent opportunity to claim her part of the fortune.

WARNING, fasten your seat belt before reading.
This book is written at a frantic pace. The caustic sarcasm comes thick and fast and is delivered with elegance. This story moves with a dizzy pace that gripped me from the start. If you are offended by unrestrained attacks on the entitled rich, nouveau riche, the ghastly gaudy rich, shallow influencers, boring people, people with either too much or too little confidence, small talk, guilty liberal-minded do-gooders, most men especially when trying to flirt, the culturally unenriched, possers and anyone else the protagonist dislikes (which is most people) then perhaps this isn’t the book for you. She also doesn't like people with an eco-minded fascination with amphibians. However, I was completely happy with that. I found it witty and at times snigger-out-loud funny, moreover I found myself agreeing with Grace’s judgements. The opening prologue appears to set up a modernised version of the classic movie “Kind Hearts and Coronets”. Grace is in prison for a high-profile murder she didn’t commit and is writing her memoirs setting out why and how she carried out six other high-profile murders she didn’t get caught for. Her motive was a mix of revenge and greed. She is waiting for an appeal decision which she feels will go her way.The story follows the main elements of the film (which I assume was an inspiration). The murders are creative and appear to be accidents, there is no suspicion of foul play. Grace’s justifications are brutal but apart from one victim, you do think they had it coming. Despite everything unpleasant about Grace you cannot help but root for her. You want Grace to succeed and get rich. I liked her, although I would be scared to meet her, it is however unlikely she would give me the time of day let alone go to the trouble of actually harming me.Until the finale, the pace is an intense page-turner; I could not put it down. As it approaches its conclusion it slows and I felt it could go, any one, of many ways. Littered in the plot were quite a few loose ends, each having the potential to come back and bite Grace. The ending does take a surprising turn, of which all I will say is it does not end like the film.Arguably there are a few plot holes, but it would be churlish to make an issue of them; it is a farce. For me, the five stars are earned by the writing, I was hooked and drawn into Grace’s murky world of dislike for most things human. The plot was good, the characters well developed and the edge of the seat writing was awesome (Grace would very much disapprove of anything being “awesome”, she hates such over-the-top language).
