Chef Boyardee Chef Boyardee Mac & Cheese, 15 oz

I bought for food storage/prepps. Not too bad. Not the greatest tasting but its ok. 350 calories per can and 11g of protein for $1. Definitely worth having for an emergency if on a budget. Its easy to digest too. Unlike tomato based pasta its easy on my stomach and doesn't trigger my acid reflex. Good emergency food for the pantry. It would probably taste better warm but I'm consuming it room temperature and its ok. Great nutrition to cost. Would be good for prepping, camping or a quick easy meal. I'm very happy with this product.

Guilty pleasure not for everyone. Easy to just heat up. From boarding school days was easy to pop in the closet and just eat!!

This is a lot better than I thought it would be. The noodles and sauce both have a great consistency. I would honestly give this 5 stars, but it is a bit on the bland side for me. Then again, I usually add a little bit sauce to my Mac and cheese. After I added some Frank's, this was as good as I would ever expect from something canned that can sit around for a couple of years in your pantry

To begin with, I have long been a fan of Chef Boyardee products — not all of them, but many — and when I bought this Chef Boyardee Macaroni and Cheese, it was with a certain expectation of baseline goodness. I wasn't expecting five-star chef product, but good old Chef Boyardee reliable "yeah, it tastes pretty good" at the very least, but… I did not get even half of that 'pretty good'. What I got was a travesty of the cheesy goodness I was hoping for; in fact, it wasn't even all that cheesy, let alone any shred of goodness. This… stuff… was a chemically, flat, disturbingly not cheesy tasting mirror universe version of mac & cheese. This stuff seems to have been brought over from an alternate reality where cheese is not good and comforting food, but a punishment for bad children and too-indulgent adults. I was expecting a minimum of comfort food and got a maximum of disgust. I couldn't even finish one serving, and I am not one to waste food light — food wasted is money wasted and I haven't got any to waste. My spouse, who has a stronger stomach than I and a more forgiving, or at least tolerant, palate, didn't like it, either. He had a couple of bites and threw out the rest, too. The only way I could say it would be at all useful to purchase this stuff would be if you were buying it as a punishment for someone or to give to someone you hate. I'm sorry, Chef Boyardee, but this one failed miserably — at least for me and my family — and ought to be retired in favor of a new version that actually tastes like mac & cheese and not a bad chemically reproduced version from an alternate evil universe. TL; DR: Seriously. Bad. You have been warned.

The biggest benefit of this is getting it ready made from the can, so no need to add water or boil the noodles. The flavor is the least desirable thing about it. It's pretty bland with a bit of tanginess that I assume to be cheese-like but ends up tasting kind of weird especially compared to Kraft Mac and Cheese which I consider to taste excellent. Texture is a little mushy, but I kind of expected it coming from a can. It's pretty cheap, so I would say try it, but don't expect too much.

This is great mac n cheese in a pinch for your childs lunch or to make for a quick side for you dinner, easy peasy and tastes great! Heat n eat! Nothing compares to a hot bowl of mac n cheese anytime of day.

Things like this are always in my pantry. Easy to warm up, taste reasonably good, and lasts a long time. When Helene went through, we were without power for a while, and these worked great. A little salty though, but the kids like it. It is what it is. For backup pantries, you won't find organic fresh market stuff that will last more than a week. I always check salt content for what I purchase, so I ten toward beans now.
