I wanted to install overhead storage in my garage to free up some ground space, but the garage door opener track made it hard to buy the 8x4 ft rack. Fleximounts sells a 6x4 ft which is perfect. I bought 2.Installing them has easy despite some challenges. My ceiling has joists 2ft apart running perpendicular to the garage opener track. If I wanted to position the racks the way I wanted to, I had to install the brackets parallel to the garage opener track and perpendicular to the joists. There was also the door to the attic that had a frame around it that was in the way of mounting a bracket on the joist. I didn't want to cut it so I move that 1 bracket over. The brackets are long so it gives you more flexibility to install them to fit whatever spacing you have.The racks are durable and well constructed. The grated shelves are sturdy. And the price was very low. There's enough storage space that it freed up my garage floor. They look great and I highly recommend these.

Wish I bought this sooner. It’s very light weight but holds plenty. Freed up so much floor space in our storage room. Don’t sleep on this product. My husband didn’t have too hard of a time installing it either. Easy setup for sure. Good bang for your buck!

Didn’t even use the instructions as to me, each piece was self explanatory when studied for a moment. Went together like a glove & is sturdy so I give it 5 stars. You must screw the lag screws into ceiling joists, strong rack.

The overall rating of 4 stars is due to having to figure out where all of the brackets will go, especially if you are hanging by yourself. It comes with good directions, but the paper that it comes with to help you get your points on the ceiling isn't the best in my opinion. If they just gave you a full-length paper you could tape to the ceiling then get your measurements from there, it would make it so much easier. I used a laser to line up the bolts to my joists, but it was a little frustrating at times (again I was hanging by myself). I would recommend having two people do this job as it doesn't take that long if you are good at getting measurements and keeping them straight especially if you are trying to find the beams in the ceiling.

I put this up by myself in just a few hours. It comes with a mounting guide to get the brackets mounted in the ceiling. Once you get the ceiling brackets on the stud and lined up, everything else was brainless. The adjustable height is a nice touch and very easy to adjust (You don’t have to take the whole thing apart to adjust the height, but you’ll need someone to support the rack if you do). There are plenty of additional mounting holes if you plan on expanding your rack later on. Once you get the arms on and bolted in, the rack itself sits down in a valley on the arms so it’s pretty easy to do by yourself, if you have to. I have had probably 100 pounds on the rack for several months and have not had issues, nor am I worried about it falling. Very sturdy product. I will probably buy another one later on to expand.

3/11 UPDATE. Seller was AWESOME and sent me the newer model with 24" ceiling brackets and 4 mounting posts. Put it up in about 2.5 hours with help from my teenage son. Seems very sturdy and was relatively easy to mount. My only complaint would be to upgrade the directions a bit. If I had not done MUCH research on mounting the first one that didnt fit it would have taken me longer. Larger clearer instructions and maybe a quick Youtube video on the manufacturers website would make even better. I was going to give 4 stars because of the mediocre instructions, but the great customer service offset that. Fleximounts, put a quick 2 minute video on Youtube showing instructions on mounting and you have a gem. I would not recommend the older version of this shelf because of mounting difficult however.Spent 2.5 hours trying to mount the 8 foot model before I finally figured out it had to be mounted perpendicular to the joists. Didnt have quite enough space to mount it perpendicular so after much research including looking at the 6 foot model on the manufacturers website I ordered it. What i received is NOT what is pictured. the joists (it is 36 inches wide and the joists are 24 inches wide and it was slightly too long to mount perpendicular to the joists). So with a LOT of research and using the template to plan where i would need to drill holes I sent the 8 foot model back and ordered the 6 foot. Well the one pictured is NOT what you get! The one pictured uses the same 24" ceiling brackets that span two joists just like the 8 foot model, HOWEVER the one that came has 8 freaking ceiling brackets and they are all 8 inches long so no way to span them between two joists. I even went to the manufacturers website before I ordered it and confirmed it had the same ceiling brackets as the 8 foot model. Amazon AND the manufacturer both have the same picture and that is NOT what i received. I will be sending this back and will try and contact the manufacturer and see if I can get the correct one. If not I will look for another brand. I did read a review on one of the other sizes where the reviewer said "make sure you get the newer model with the longer ceiling brackets. I have never been so frustrated with a product in my life. I guess I got the "older model"??? See pictures for what I ordered vs. what was shipped. Well over 4 hours spent and will be taking this box back to UPS on Monday to send back again. Picture 1 is what was on Amazon and manufacturers website matched w. 4 support poles and 4 ceiling brackets. Picture 2 is the item received. So angry.

Easy to assemble built with sturdy material. Fits small space over garage door. Height adjustable.

Bought this for my garage. Christmas and Halloween decorations storage instead of laying on the floor. The installation was easy (because i'm a DIY handyman.. otherwise, make sure you mount this properly in the studs or trusses). The bracket requires you to install about 1/2" from a wall so it may be a bit wiggeling. I added a 1x3 behind the tracks and it did the trick just fine.I would recommend this to anyone wanting that extra wasting space above your head!

It might be because my garage ceiling is so high but when I put these up they looked small. I realized as loaded them that they actually hold a lot of stuff. I highly recommend these storage racks.
