An Abbreviated Series Of Pilkington Annoyances
I've been a fan of the "Idiot Abroad" series since the very first episode. I think Karl Pilkington is amazingly funny, even when he's not trying to be, and I definitely recommend this series on DVD. Having said that, please realize that there are only three episodes (one DVD) in this series, and for the first time Karl gets a traveling companion to bicker with in this outing, Warwick Davis, which changes the dynamic considerably. In this series Karl and Warwick retrace the Marco Polo route from Venice all the way back to China. I sometimes found the interplay of the two funny, but I really felt that Karl was in his prime when he was solo as he was in the first two seasons. If you like "An Idiot Abroad", I definitely recommend this volume to you, but if you're new to the concept, please start with season one as you'll understand more and the later episodes will be more enjoyable to you.

A Short But Worthy Continuation...
Admittedly this series is shorter than the previous two, only weighing in with 3 real episodes, however that shouldn't deter anyone from taking the time to enjoy the third incarnation of an Idiot Abroad.Ironically in this series it seems that Karl has managed to figure out that his mates aren't out there to make his life more fun or even do things that he wants during the excursions and has accepted his fate as a simple object for our amusement. This does reduce the amount of traditional 'belly aching' from Karl and seems to honestly open his eyes a bit more to the things he is experiencing in a way more fitting to how you or I would. I found myself thinking "Hrm, thats more how I'd react to that." far more often in series 3 than the previous series' which made me wonder if either Karl is losing his edge (is Ricky finally getting through to him?) or have they simply run out of new ideas to throw at him.The introduction of Warwick Davis does bring a new element into the series (you keep having those moments where you think, "Oh ya! He was also in..." through the whole series) and his interactions with Karl make for the occasional chuckle, however in my opinion the jokes and experiences between the two of them feel completely fake and staged...until the very end.Overall, without giving too much away on the series I will say that for fans of An Idiot Abroad it's a worthy addition to your Blu-ray collection (I have all 3 series myself) but for those looking to get into the series...do yourself a favor...start at the beginning as you will appreciate the complexities (or lack there of) of Mr. Karl Pilkington, a true Idiot Abroad.

The first two seasons are gold. The third is unnecessary.
This is a really funny show. It is produced by Ricky Gervais, who I don't find funny, however, Mr Pilkington is excellent and appears to be authentic in his world-weary view of travel and culture. Pairing Pilkington with Warwick is unnecessary and clearly upsets the balance of the show.

2 disc set of Ricky Gervais Live 1 & 2 (NOT REGION FREE)
This DVD set was released in the UK, it contains 2 exceptionally funny standup routines by David Brent himself RICKY GERVAIS. (THESE DISCS WILL ONLY PLAY IN REGION FREE PLAYER HERE IN THE STATES)Animals is 78 mins of live standup some of it concerning animals, there is also a 20 + min doc on the filming of the special with STEPHEN MERCHANT interviewing Ricky, and a commmentary track.Politics (68 mins) showcases a slighty more streamlined and hipper Ricky than Animals, and suffers lightly from this slicker RG, it is still funny as you please however. The extras on Politics are lengthier and funnier particularly the 19 min with Karl Pilkington, he is hilarious to listen to on Ricky's podcasts but even funnier to look at (him and his little freak book) Also very funny is Robin Ince and Rickys commentary track.A nice deal for the standup/Ricky G. fan just make sure you have the means to watch it if you are on this side of the pond.

A great pair
I loved the first two seasons of An Idiot Abroad and couldn't wait for this to come out on DVD through Netflix, so my husband and I bought this from Amazon Video on Demand. Despite being shallow, slow, and offensive, Karl's trials and his reactions to them in the first two seasons endeared him to me somewhat. He had my sympathy when he was going through unnecessary crap (caused by Ricky), his interactions with locals made me laugh (the Mongolian throat singing was the best), and his observations were often spot-on and witty. In Season 3, Karl lost much of my sympathy in the absolutely horribly offensive things he said to to Warwick. (As I side note, I highly recommend Warwick's memoir, "Size Matters Not.") But ultimately, the dynamic between the two of them was awesome and made for great television. The third and final episode was the best; it definitely had me laughing out loud.

Karl gets a travel partner!
Karl really comes across as even more clueless and rude than in the previous seasons. I do not know what kept Warwick from punching Karl. As usual Karl is usual his whining complaining self. But it is still a funny concept, a travel show about someone who does not want to travel. Karl is particularly upset that Warwick treats the trip like a holiday/vacation. Warwick gives Karl more fodder for moaning and whining in phone calls to Ricky which only make Ricky howl with laughter. If you a fan of this round headed buffoon you will want to watch this series.

Funny
I laughed the most this Season. That being said there are several things bugging me.1.) 3 episodes! THREE! Watched that in one evening, great. Way too few.2.) It's just so random. There is no development. Where are fights, discussions, happy things. There is just no character development. Yeah sure it's real tv bla bla bla. Well you can still make a good show.3.) Those two are pure gold, each season I am asking for more (Karl alone in the other two had the same issues). It's too little supervised. If you would just 'script' it a little bit it could be worlds better. And I am not saying the things they say need scripting, just the flow and events they are doing, it just feels so randomly put together. I dunno, hard to describe. Just saying tons of potential goes down the drain here.

hmmm
same as everyone else, a lot of mixed feelings. love some of the adventures they do but it just feels to me like they've made it just for extra money, noticed Stephen Merchant isn't running the show with Ricky so I don't know if that has to do with it. Anyway, Karl is funny as per usual and Warwick Davis seems like a nice guy with some agreeable views (and some not) but in the wrong program. It's not all bad, it is enjoyable and there are some brilliant moments in it.I didn't think they pushed the whole Marco Polo theme too well, there was only a few moments that described his journey.Overall, it sadly didn't feel like karl Pilkington does an idiot abroad, more like two people see a few sites.Just My Opinion though, you might enjoy it more than me

Same Same But Different
Being a big fan of this series I was very excited when my copy of Season 3 arrived and for the whole part was not dissapointed once I had watched it. It follows a similar route that the first two had taken but this time had added a bit of company for the Idiot Abroad.Warrick I must say is a stroke of genius by Ricky, the two guys clash in so many ways it really had me in utter stiches at times as well as breathing a little bit of freshness to the series. My problem with the series 3 is that for me it lacked Stephens edge, the whole of series 3 only added in to 3 episodes when if you were to consider the journey they take could have easily been expanded by another 3 episodes. Instead the resulting episodes felt rushed when it came in to editing, you can almost feel Ricky getting too excited and causing all the post production guys to rush the result so he can release the show. I take it as Stephen is required as he would have added a bit more class to the production and calmed Ricky down when Ricky gets all over excited. The series just lacks that little bit extra thought. In the end if you liked the first 2 seasons you will like the 3rd as well, there were some proper pieces of comedic genius in there.

Different
The addition of Warwick Davis injected a humour that was different, Karl does manage the trips much better on his own, however Warwick Davis is a joy to watch with Karl, very enjoyable, but shorter in content parden the pun! No Stephen Merchant, limited extras, one disc, it appears to be a rushed edition Ricky you had the winning formula why try a change, I really loved this disc but I still say the previous r3elerases were much better, maybe we are getting use to Karl, keep the trips rolling Ricky, most of these reviews state the lack of the first two, however its a good buy

Favourite TV series
Favourite TV series, very funny & interesting if you don't know who Karl Pilkington is, then you will need to watch this, at first you just think he is a bit of an idiot, then you start to grow sympathy for him & realise how much of a genuine guy he is, sure he is not the smartest, but he is who he is & he doesn't care what other people think. Only reason why I didn't give this 5 stars was because this series only contained 3 episodes, so it is basically a mini series, but still funny nonetheless.
