Amish Handmade Square Double Pie Basket w/Inside Tray, Lid, and Two Swinging Carrier Handles (Red w/o Liner, Regular)

Love my new basket. It is sturdy and we'll made!

I purchased this lovely basket to give to a friend for her birthday. She loves to bake fresh fruit pies to take to gatherings so I know she will love this double pie carrier. I am very pleased with the quality of this handmade basket and it was delivered quickly.In my opinion the wood used felt kind of dry so I applied a coat of 100% pure food grade mineral oil and let that soak in, then rubbed off any remaining oil. The next day I applied a thin coat of Howard's beeswax. Note, the maker had applied a light waxy stain to the wood which likely prevented some of the oil being absorbed but it feels better after the oil and beeswax treatment. For anyone who might want to moisturize their basket, I made sure to use a microfiber towel for wiping the oil and beeswax applications because cotton or paper towels would have left lint on the basket.I am very happy with my purchase and will likely buy a smaller pie basket for my own use.

The square double pie carrier basket is sturdy and skillfully handmade. Looking at the details and the weight of the basket really made me realize the difference in a one of a kind handmade in the USA piece and a mass produced piece. It’s a keepsake piece. I had some questions about my particular piece and the seller could not have worked any harder to make sure I was completely satisfied with my purchase and I am!

I bought this for a friend for Christmas 2015; someone who is very difficult to buy a present. She absolutely loves it and has been asked by several people where she got it. I have a similar basket but it does not have a top. The top is really important. I bought the basket because it was Amish handmade. It is it a very good quality and I am very happy with it. I would recommend it to anyone who would like to transport food. It also has a shelf in so that you can carry two pies at one time or turn it upside down or take out to carry one cake .

Looks real nice wherever my wife puts. She really likes it.

This would be perfect for an open face pie or tarts. But it’s not deep enough for two filled pies such as apple. Otherwise it’s well made, and looks fantastic

I am using this as a 2-level bread box so I don’t have bread loaves, bagels, buns, etc. taking over my counter!I like the inner shelf, the workmanship & overall appearance! I wish it were maybe 1-2” deeper, but I’m still very happy with this purchase.
