Setup is a pain!
Order was shipped but got damaged and was returned by USPS. Re-order was shipped with no issues. Router/wifi was a pain to setup. They(netgear) forces you to download their app and get their Netgear Armor to finish setup. If there is another way I didn't find it. Otherwise it's up and working fine. The seller of course has nothing to do with the setup or function of the product. Be prepared to spend some time setting up and dealing with the Armor crap.

Wrong power supply. Cannot use.
Well my current phone service providers service ends today on 8/23.I've had my 3 numbers with them for 13 years.Decided to switch providers. I had to get home internet service before I could get their phone service.So today on 8/23 they come to hook service up to the house.Low and behold, I was sent a 12V power supply for some other netgear modem.The device that I purchased takes a 7.4mm OD 5.1mm ID female 19V 3.16A power supply.This power supply CANNOT be purchased anywhere locally.It is exclusive to only 2 /3 higher end nighthawk devices.Now because I cannot activate my new service, I cannot activate the 3 phone lines and have my numbers porter over from my old provider.So if I am to keep my 3 13 year old numbers I am going to have to pay for another month of service.Wtf... the power supply sent is nothing like the one that the device I purchased takes.Thanks for another month payment on my "old" providers plan.

Setup was a NIGHTMARE
I read the reviews before purchasing so I was prepared for a battle with the set up or so I thought. It was the most frustrating experience EVER!!!!! I lost count on how many times I did a factory reset on the modem before I got it to work. Nighthawk app was a pain and provided no help whatsoever. I googled the errors and issues I was having to find solutions.I have iOS and had to turn off my private relay setting on my phone to get the nighthawk app to work properly. That seemed to be the main issue. After I did that I was able to enter in the admin password for the modem and have the nighthawk app actually recognize and accept it. Once that finally went through the app had to do a firmware update on the modem.Everything seems to be connected and running smoothly now.Modem was in excellent shape as described. Modem came in an aftermarket box with the modem, power adapter , Ethernet cable along with a nighthawk netgear set up pamphlet.I will say the frustration that the setup gave me it was still worth getting the modem for half the price. There is a 90 day warranty so I will continue to watch for glitches and any potential issues.

Don't let cable companies scam you
This literally pays for itself overtime and will last you at least 5 years if you need a cable modem / router.

Had some initial hiccups but ultimately figured it out
I understand it's a refurbished product and knew the risk of the Gamble I was playing. It turned out to be in great shape. Almost brand new. But there were no LAN cables or instructions in the box. Just the router and power brick.The most difficult hurdle I faced is the router didn't come factory reset. The person who used it or the previous owners information were in the router. So while I could connect to the WiFi, but couldn't access the admin interface to setup the wifi as I would want to. The default admin/password combo didn't work. Had to use the reset button on the back multiple times to reset it. It didn't reset for the first few attempts. Tried with coaxial cable on and off both. The 5th attempt without coaxial cable connected seemed to do to the trick. I had to press the reset button on the back for 7-10 seconds and the router was successfully reset. I was able to set-up the router with the admin web interface 192.168.1.1. But you can also use the Nighthawk router app to set it up.Next was calling my ISP which is optimum in NYC, and ask them to activate my modem. I gave optimum the MAC address of this device, which is printed on the bottom, and it took them 15 minutes to activate it. After that it's been a breeze! I'm using the 1 gig package. Getting 980 Mbps download via wired.I could rate the product 3/4 star for the initial hiccups, but hey I am a tech savvy person and buying a refurbished product, these issues sometimes comes to haunt us. I hope this review helps if anyone else wants to purchase it in future and faces this same issue I faced.Among the other reviews mentioned for this product where the signal dropping off, router restarting randomly or losing connection, I'm not facing any of the above. So far pleasant experience. Goodbye router rentals!!!!

Replacement when defective.... no good
The modern has issues, since it came in it was having connectivity issues, I called the vendor directly and he did to contact my internet provided. Yes I did contact Xfinity, nothing wrong with the signal, tech tested in different ways... all perfect with connectivity and cabling. The modern has an issue, disconnects after a period of time. This is my lively good, my income. I work from home and cannot be disconnected. In order to get a replacement, i have to send this one back and wait for it to arrive so they can ship a replacement. Now, pay tell me, how am I to work during that period specially with the holidays now. Do not like this service. Not good customer service. If I do not ship back the defective one, if that is what is worrying then, they have the option to bill me! Which i do not plan to do, what an i to do with a defective equipment? That is very very stupid logic.Not good experience.
