I've been looking at a product called 'moon brew' they listed this supplement for one to stop you mind from racing at night. Dosage says 1. I found that the first few weeks of taking this vitamin, that it did slow my racing thoughts and I've been able to get back to sleep. But, I feel I have hit a plateau and have increased the dose to 2 and it has silenced my mind! With said increase, I'm sleeping better and I've also noticed a case of vertigo. This could be hormonal based but the correlation between the time I increased it and the dizziness, I can't help but feel this vitamin is causing it. Something to pay attention to.

One of my earliest memories as a child, I wasn't even talking because I remember babbling to my parents, that's how young I was. My crib was in their room, they were asleep and I was wide awake, and it happened frequently. That's how long I've had problems sleeping. Next I was moved into a big bed and during my preschool years I remember being frozen with fear because I believed there might be something under my bed and being awake for what seemed, hours to a small child. One winter I was sick and spent numerous days and nights on the couch and my past time at night was counting how many times the heating stove kicked on and watching the flames in the little window in the front. Some nights I counted to ten or twelve. Things did not improve as a teen or into adulthood. I've tried teas, and everything advertised on TV that was guaranteed to make me sleep. According to my sleep tracker, most nights I was awake a good part of the night, I slept lightly, and my sleep scores were in the lower 60's. I was to the point that I had decided that sleep must be overrated because I never seemed to get much. The first night I used one of these little pills, my sleep score was a 74, and I had extended periods of deep sleep. The second night I slept 8 hours and 15 minutes, straight through! While I still sometimes wake up at night, I am far more likely to go back to sleep, I'm getting deep sleep when REM occurs, something that seldom happened before, and even if I'm awake for a while, I feel more rested. Even when I am awake a couple of hours, I still seem to get more actual rest. You need to drink a glass of milk or eat some form of dairy with this, and take magnesium. Since milk is constipating, I take one Phillips Milk of Magnesium PILL, which a doctor once told me was an excellent source of magnesium. These pills cost around twelve cents each and the Phillips is also inexpensive. This is a very natural product and I prefer natural over drugs any day. I highly recommend it to insomniacs like me, everywhere!

I work nights so I don’t get as much serotonin and I should. One of these before bed has me feeling like a human being and I love it.

I decided to try Nutricost L-Tryptophan 500mg capsules as a natural sleep aid and to help improve my mood. After using it for a few weeks, I've noticed some benefits but also a few side effects. Many reviewers found that this L-tryptophan supplement helped them fall asleep faster, sleep more deeply, and wake up feeling more rested. Several people said it worked better for them than prescription sleep medications or melatonin. Quite a few also reported improved mood, reduced anxiety and depression symptoms when taking it regularly. However, the capsules contain black pepper extract (Bioperine), which seems to cause acid reflux, heartburn, and stomach discomfort for a significant number of users. The large capsule size was difficult for some to swallow. A few people had a strong negative reaction with insomnia, disorientation or headaches. And for some, it didn't seem to make any noticeable difference in sleep or mood. In my personal experience, I have found some mild benefits to my sleep and general sense of calm and wellbeing when taking 1-2 capsules in the evening. But I also notice an unpleasant burning sensation in my throat and some digestive discomfort, likely from the black pepper extract. Overall, Nutricost seems to provide a cost-effective L-tryptophan supplement that does work well for some in supporting better sleep and mood. But it won't work for everyone, and the potential side effects from the added Bioperine may not be worth it for those with sensitive digestive systems. I'd recommend starting with a low dose and seeing how your body reacts. Pros: + Helps improve sleep quality for many + Can promote better mood and emotional regulation + Cost-effective compared to some other brands + Vegetarian capsules Cons: - Black pepper extract causes acid reflux and digestive upset for some - Large capsules can be hard to swallow - Doesn't work for everyone - Potential to cause insomnia or headaches in a small number of users
