Definitely not a good pie, although I suppose for a baked product you don't have to refrigerate to store for a fairly long time, normal. Really, the expiration date on my box was much longer than I normally see, and I should have seen the warning signs. What type of non-refrigerated baked good with a decent amount of fruit filling could possibly keep for more than a month? Agree with the others, the pies were ridiculously sweet. I thought the cherry filling might have added some tartness, but no, the sugar completely eliminated that. Very few cherries. Also agree that the crust was odd, definitely not the puff pastry I'm used to with commercially sold pies. It's some sort of crumbly cookie type deal literally coated in a sugar glaze, and I suppose that comes with the trade off that we don't have to refrigerate them. I actually got a lot of filling and a thin crust, so not resonating with other reviews, but trust me it didn't improve my experience.

These pies are delicious! They are really fresh and a surprising amount of filling. The expected delivery date was 23rd-27th and they arrived on the 22nd. I’m extremely happy with these! I’m thinking they would be great to hand out for Halloween, kids would love them!

What can I say? I miss the old ones with those luscious cherries you didn't have to search for. Yes, these have cherries, but not like I remember. I will still buy these, but they are in no way what we older people remember. These taste way too sweet. Also shelf life is pretty short. I ordered 4 boxes and have till August 10th to eat (less than 3 weeks). I was going to freeze some anyway.

Ok. Who knew they made these things in snack size?? I love the bigger ones, but they were too big. These are a great size for a snack without feeling like you ate a ginormous pie. I thought that these had more cherries than the bigger ones too- it seems like the bigger ones were getting to be all goop and air with about 2 cherries-these were filled up.

I usually order these pies through Amazon Fresh, but my local store has been out for weeks, so I decided to order through Prime. I ordered this on April 22,2021. It arrived the next day (I love Prime!). The box it came in seemed pretty beat up, but I didn't think much of it, it was still sealed... I cut the plastic wrap, ready for a delicious cherry pie... When I removed one of the boxes, I noticed it was open on the side (looked like the glue didn't hold), and the box was a bit... Mushy... Odd... I check the others, the same... And they seemed to have greese or oil stains on the boxes, like it leaked through the cardboard. Very strange. Then I noticed the best by date: 10/11/20 They were over SIX MONTHS out of date... I contacted Amazon and they immediately sent a replacement. (I love Prime) The replacement arrived the next day (I love Prime)... The first thing I checked was the best by date... Also 10/11/20... I immediately contacted Amazon, explained the situation, and asked for a refund. It was promptly given (I love Prime). I'm sad that I'm not currently enjoying delicious cherry pies, but thankful for how helpful Customer Support is... I can't say you'll get pies that are out of date, but I also can't say you won't. Buy with caution.

I was looking forward to reliving the tastes of old, but was vastly disappointed with these pies. They have the hostess name, but they are far from what they used to be. What you get with this product is an odd looking and tasting crust, with a mediocre filling. Unfortunately, the filling was more like a paste, rather than fruity, gooey goodness. I'm not sure how to describe what the pastry portion tasted like, but this one was a bit bland. I debated on whether to give this a two star, but the pies were OK, just not what I remembered. If hostess were to use their old recipe, I would consider purchasing this product again.

The pies tasted like the same awesome recipe from my childhood, but the new packaging is truly well thought out and worthy of the 21st century. I can remember having terminally sticky hands and never having a napkin so I had to wipe them on my jeans or T-shirt and run back to play with my friends. Now the pie stays in the box with a tear down lid. Voilà! No mess and is easy to dispose of.
