Watch out Pelican
First of all let me preface by saying that I have multiple hard cases from the “major” brands such as Pelican and Hurricane ranging from fire-arms to search and rescue equipment. I’m military, and we abuse hard cases like it’s going out of style. That being said, I have come to view some things as over priced when cases break over minimal stress, clearly because it has a certain tag on it in this other facet of the “tactic-cool” market. This case is well built, has firm locking mechanisms, no lid shift / tilt, and the foam isn’t bad. The very outer two layers of the foam that band the cubes are a little loose, but given the price it’s becomes a moot point. I submerged tested the case right when I got it, no leaks.I recently got into digital music making, but I thought the soft case that was offered by the brand who built my synthesizer was way to steep given that it offered no hard case protection. For the same price, I got this hard case. And I LOVE the red color. I have so many hard cases that are black or coyote tan; it just gets old when you’ve been in the military for a minute. Being able to get a “fun” color without being up-charged was nice. How many times have you wanted that cool piece of gear only to get it in “OD” or “Coyote Tan” instead of black made it more expensive? I also want to point out that this brand has a ton of sizes, and my synthesizer has a very oblong slope to it, making any generic music case not being able to work.I don’t plan on lugging this on a combat rotation, but for the price point vs durability it’s perfect for keeping safe the things that you value.

This has pretty much met all my expectations but I will add ...
This has pretty much met all my expectations but I will add that the pick-n-pluck foam is not as stiff as I had hoped. I acquired this case so that I could safely transport a drum machine and the accessories that go with it. I was very careful in terms of planning where everything would go. For example, whereas one "hole" passes through all three layers of the pick and pluck foam, another one might be only one layer deep. This enabled me to locate something that is kept exclusively in the bottom layer (the middle layer of PnP foam that's right above it is intact and then the top layer has something that I pull the PnP foam for). So, I was able to get everything into the case that I wanted to and I was careful leave enough foam between openings (kind of like ribs) so that the foam layers were stable. Where I ran into a little trouble is that when I set the case down with the handle on top, the weight of the heaviest item (the drum machine itself) caused the foam to compress a bit so that when I opened up the case, the foam appeared squeezed (like a sponge) and it was not fitting as tightly. This compression wasn't to bad and I don't think it would interfere with protecting the gear. However, i strong suggest that when mapping out where stuff is going to go in a bigger case like this one, that you locate the heavier items closer to the hinge edge of the case (the edge that you're going to be setting down on the floor). This way, when the case is sitting on the floor, the heaviest stuff isn't in the top of the case where it will have more of a compressing impact on all of the foam below it. If the foam had a stiffer consistency (was less spongy) this might not be a problem. I'm not sure if Pelican's foam is a bit stiffer. But, I do realize that the foam has to be manufactured to strike a balance. It has to be stiff enough to hold its shape under weight, but soft enough so that your times can be squeezed into their spots in a way that keeps them from moving around.

Great Quality. Just as described! No need for an overpriced Pelican.
Throughout my many years of military service I was privy to using a wide variety of Pelican cases. Although, I never had to pay for one, I was aware of their expensive price points. Comparing this Condition 1 to the Pelican brand, I must admit, I am very impressed. For this particular model, it includes three layers of customizable foam. Each layer is approximately 1.5 inches thick. Each layer is made up of small removable squares (measuring .5 inch X .5 inch X 1.5 inches). Beyond the three customizable layers of phone sets one solid phone piece attached to the bottom of the case and another attached on the inside of the lid. The case also features for locking levers (with various external holes to secure with locks) and one decompression valve. In my pictures you'll see I was able to fit my DJI Ronin SC gimbal with its accessories, perfectly in this case. Granted, being I made no cuts and Strictly remove the foam squares to the shapes sizes and depths necessary, Some parts of my equipment don't fall perfectly snug into place. If you're somewhat of a perfectionist asylum, and depending on the amount of equipment's shape and depth complexity, You may want to clear up a few hours of your schedule to get your things set up just right. The case by no means feels cheap nor does it look it. This particular case it's much cheaper in price than one of very similar size from the Pelican brand and doesn't sacrifice quality. I would consider this case perfect if the customizable foam squares were smaller in thickness, not the 1.5 inches they currently are. If they were thinner it would allow for much more precise customization. Besides that, there isn't much difference between those two cases. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND getting this case! Best of luck on your purchase!

Perfect!
I’m using this case to store unused external hard drives. Just exactly what I need to keep them from getting knocked around and potentially damaged.
