Thorough and Impressive Research
Professor Kamaly did a wonderful job in researching and documenting the histories of twenty-one fascinating women. He is to be commended for an astounding job. The book club of which I am a member read this book for our reading project, and we were all impressed with Professor Kamaly and his book.

Nothing to do with Islam.
Title makes you think it's all about what women did for Islam - it's not. It's just about random women in power over the centuries, who happened to be of muslim faith. With the exception of the Holy Prophet Mohamned's (saw) daughter & wife who are also mentioned. Very disappointing. Wasted my money.

Take a pass, sadly
The books stories about individual women across several timelines doesn’t really add up and form any connections. Often there are themes or at least a clear understanding of why the particular characters and people are chosen to be written about. I didn’t get that understanding in this book.
