Q: What's the difference between this and a regular metal ligature

This is going to be too big for a standard metal mouthpiece even with the screw tightened to the max. A ligature designed for a metal mouthpiece is going to have a much small diameter. Even with that in mind, a standard Rovner ligature like a C1M which is designed for a metal mouthpiece will not fit all metal mouthpieces properly. You sometimes need a metal ligature that is designed specifically for the mouthpiece.

Q: Just finished buying but why is it so tight?

Rovner publishes a fit chart for which ligatures fit which mouthpieces on their website. Why that is not included in Amazon listings for rovner ligatures seems odd. Go to rovner products.com in the support section to see if you mouth piece is sized correctly.

Q: The product information states that this ligature is for an alto saxophone rubber mouthpiece. Can it be used on a Premiere Hite plastic mouthpiece?

This should work great with that mouthpiece. It will not work with most metal mouthpieces, which require a smaller circumference ligature, but the plastic and rubber are similarly sized.

Q: I heard i need to put valve oil on the metal part or else it wont vibrate properly is this true?

I never tried that, but the ligature worked fine for me. I would think oil would damp any vibration. I think a small amount of oil is recommended for the metal threads that tighten the ligature.
