I was able to take out the jaws and place them to hold the piece off-center. All the jaws are controlled by a single mechanism. There's a central spiral on which the jaws sit so I don't have a handy way of controlling precisely how much off center the piece is -- that is set by the spiral's dimensions. But this setup was good enough for me. Perhaps it wasn't intended to be used this way, but it is doing what I want. And the price was better than what the competition had on offer.

I first would have liked a 4 jaw unit but the 3 jaws holds securely and in my opinion, is easier to center between 3 points than 4.

I knew I was not buying top of the line and didn't expect more then I got. Works exactly as expected and I can not complain about anything. I would recommend it as long as you are not expecting it to work like a nova chuck.

I tried this chuck and the piece of wood it was holding came out of the jaws and hit me. It was annoying and I returned the chuck. The chuck could be improved by adding a few lines on the chuck jaws where they are engaging the piece.

Holds well, jaws center nicely
