Q: Can these be used on plastic sheeting ?

I don't think you could use them on plastic sheeting. I thought about doing that, but decided the wind would tear them out of the plastic.

Q: Trying to estimate for 12x24. How far apart to place? How many are needed?

I placed mine over a 10x10 area and spaced them about 24inches apart.

Q: Could the little piece that attaches the two disks be cut off so it can be placed anywhere on the screen?

Probably because when you press the 2 disks together the hold is pretty tight and had to pull apart.

Q: What size is the loop hole? I'm going to use it to hang up on wire rope so I ca retract as needed

I hung mine on a wire as well and I’d say it’s about 1/4 inch wide.
