This anchor is flat-out incredible. With about 8 feet of heavy chain, it holds my 19’ deep-V hull solidly in a strong river current. Once it sets, it sets. No dragging, no slipping — it digs in and stays put exactly like an anchor should. What really makes this thing special is the sliding eye ring on the shaft. That design is pure genius. When it’s time to pull anchor, you just drive over it and lift — it breaks free cleanly without fighting it. Anyone who’s ever wrestled a stuck anchor knows how huge that is. I’ve tried other anchors over the years, and none of them come close to doing what this one does. This is the only anchor I’ve owned that can both hold hard when you need it and come up easily when you’re ready to move. Rock-solid design, smart engineering, and absolutely worth every penny. If you boat in current and need an anchor you can actually trust, this is the one.

This is the only type of anchor that REALLY works in sandy or muddy-ish bottoms in the Cape Fear area intracoastals. We tried others & it's so hit or miss on how they hold in the soft sandy bottoms. We anchor mostly near sand bars, so not sure about oyster bed areas. The size is perfect for our 1648 Jon Boat; we easily hold the Jonnin place with 2 (1-aft & 1-forward) even in choppy or wake-induced waves near shores. I can even pull the whole boat out from the front anchor as tides shift , so it sinks into the bottom great, it's also not so heavy so you can throw it easily. We just got a 17' Scout that this size will be great for as well. I think around 18' plus you'd want to go up in size/pounds/weight of the anchor.
