Q: Why does it say sulfate free with this in the ingredients listed “ Sodium Laureth Sulfate”???

"Sulfate free" refers to the absence of sodium lauryl sulfate. It has been replaced with sodium laureth sulfate a milder surfactant. We understand what you mean and we are revising the descriptions of all of our Soap Bases to say "sodium lauryl sulfate free" instead of "sulfate free". Thank you for pointing this out.

Q: Do you need lye still?

Thank you for contacting us about our Shea Butter Soap Base. This is a completed soap formula, no lye is needed. You just melt it, add fragrance and other additives and pour it into your favorite soap mold.

Q: How long does it take it to harden?

Not long at all. I was able to pop my soap out of the silicone molds within an hour.

Q: Can you use this as a shaving soap?

Add some white refined sugar to make it lathering to shave with. 4 teaspoon per loaf gives a good lather.
