Solar Address Plaque with Solar Panel and Led Illumination and 2 Lawn Stakes

No, I ordered a plaque that was not plastic, but this is what arrived. I guess if someone wants an inexpensive plastic solar panel, then this might work for them.I don't know how effective it is in terms of light output because I immediately returned it.

Very poorly made. Numbers keep falling out and now is in the trash.

I was given this as a gift. I drilled the holes in the brick, mounted it and waited until nightfall. Disaster! There are three narrow-angle LEDs directly behind the frosted background. Yeah it lights up, and yeah the numerals are large, but all you see is the three spots of light. I was going to scrap it, but I took it apart and made three counter reflectors and glued them to the three LEDs to spread the light backwards so the mirror plastic in back would illuminate more of the frosted foreground. Much, much better.Then I asked my wife how it looked when she came in late one night. She said it was out. I took it apart again and found that the electrical design was ridiculous: there were three LEDs wired in parallel, like you'd wire tungsten lightbulbs. As an engineer, I realized that each LED had a voltage requirement of around the 1.2 volts that's typical of the NiCd cell they supplied. Well, let that run for an hour, and its voltage falls below that LED threshold and the light goes out. There were other energy storage considerations too, but I won't bore you.Unless they've changed the electrical design in the last 4 months, don't waste your time on this one. All they really needed to do was buy an 85 cent up-converter chip and put it on a 50 cent circuit board, wire the LEDs in series, not parallel, and they'd have a good product.I'm looking for a different one. My wife said, "It's broke; don't fix it!" I'll redesign it when she's not looking - for fun.Numbers are quite visible in daylight, however.

You can read the address during the day but at night we can only see the 3 del lights and not the black number. It looks like monster eyes in a cage. So unusefull to see the address at night.

Stopped being illuminated almost immediately. Still a visual number from the road.. but for being lit..useless!!

It was just what we needed. It's well lit, shows up real well!!!
