Fits 5.11 Messenger Bag and Springfield XD
This has the proper hook backing to be the 'other side' of the velcro match for the carry pocket in a 5.11 Messenger bag. I carry a Springfield XD and it fits nicely. It takes a little adjusting to get it snug an you should expect to monkey with it for all of 30 seconds until you get the tension right. The mag retention part holds an XD magazine okay. It is not super snug, but it holds.Remember that this is meant to be placed in the inside of a fairly tight zipper compartment. It is not like there should be a lot of jostling going on.With the XD in this holster, and with it all lined up in the messenger bag, it is very simple to unzip the top and reach straight in and grab the grip. Without the holster, the gun floats freely in the big pouch and you are not presented with the grip. With the holster, the grip is 'right there' and very quick to grab and draw.Just as fast or faster than whipping back a shirt to uncover a holster properly and drawing from concealed. Is it faster than open carry? Well obviously not.If you are concealing in a bag like the 5.11 messenger or any of the fine maxpedition products, this holster will allow you to position the grip to make a draw smoothe and easy. Also, the holster is a very effective trigger guard that will less chance of an unexpected 'bang'.It works for my purposes and it is well made. A fine product.

Simple and Practical Addition
Anything carrying the Maxpedition label is generally great quality. This is no different. If you're looking to carry off your person in something like a Maxpedition or Vertex bag that is lined with loop fastener, this is a good addition. I currently have this in a Vertex Commuter Sling and it works perfectly. It is configurable to whatever you're looking to holster and is definitely designed to fit what it looks like it's designed to fit, nothing much bigger. The hook fastener all the way through is very sturdy and latches on well. The retention band is made very sturdy as well. There's no "droop" or "sag" to it. Overall, another great product. Does what it's supposed to do.

Turns out to be a quality item and perfect fit!
Whoda Thunk it?The first time I installed and situated this thing I thought I had been bamboozled. I mean it just didn't look to be a viable item of any real merit. And then.....?Tah, DAH! I slipped my intended CCW pistol (a G27) into this odd holster and became a believer. In truth, it's one of those V8 head slapping moments. The darned thing, simple though it may be, actually WORKS!Fit your (UNLOADED) gun (SAFETY FIRST!!) by adjusting the retaining strap and locate it all inside the Maxpedition bag, ensuring the mating velcro is situated where you want for quick presentation, and you are DONE!Remove your handgun, load it, carefully place it inside the "holster" inside your satchel and away you go!Since there is an included elastic band attached you can also carry a spare mag for your concealed Boolit Launcher, too.Neato Mosquito IMO.Turn the entire thing 180° if you want the magazine retaining strap on the opposite end or the way the entire thing fits inside your satchel. This turned out to be one of those things you didn't know you needed until you got it, installed it and put it to work.BRILLIANT!If your bag has some corresponding velcro to adhere this holster to, you'll be glad to have it. Beats the daylights out of your gun just tossed into the bottom of your bag, purse or pocket.I'm a happy camper with mine.

Remember to practice
This entire unit is more of a retention device than a holster, which is fine as long as you remember that while setting up your rig. Obviously it’s made to pair with the Maxpedition bags so it’s pretty easy to make it work with the range of adjustment and super sticky Velcro on the back.I’m currently using a G43 for EDC and it fits ok but I’d say that’s the smallest weapon you’d want to put in it. The adjustment strap is wrapped completely around with no more room for sizing down so anything smaller will start moving around possibly presenting an unfamiliar draw position. Any full frame weapon would be very secure. The magazine strap holds any Glock series but it will be on your weapon side so I don’t recommend using it for that purpose. Maybe a flashlight or emergency tourniquet will fit but I haven’t tried it.Overall this is the obvious choice for securing a weapon inside any pocket lined with Velcro. Just remember to practice, practice, practice.
