The DHC Lip Cream isn't a cream, but rather a lip moisturizer. After using it for a few weeks, I've found that it works quite well. It isn't waxy like many lip balms. It goes on smoothly and leaves the lips feeling softer. Personally, I wouldn't necessarily use it as a lipstick base because while it would certainly leave the lips feeling moist, it would definitely keep any lipstick from adhering to the lip. That said, it's clearly better for the lips than any lipstick. Over all, a very good product.

I’ve been using DHC products for years well before they started selling on Amazon or in Ulta and they make a quality product. They’re a Japanese brand and the Japanese (and Koreans) are leaders in the beauty and skincare arena which is why I mainly use products from those countries. I’ve always liked this lip cream; it’s simple and not medicated. I have very sensitive skin and I never cared for Chapstick because it’s so waxy and just sat on my lips in a thick, ugly layer. The DHC consistency is more of a creamy wax than a hard wax and I agree that it’s pricey for the quantity, but I have no problem paying a premium for a quality product and it works for me. There’s no scent or taste and it’s moisturizing. I usually have a few of them scattered around the house, one in the car and one in my purse. When you get towards the end of the stick, it’s easy enough to use the top of your fingernail (if they’re long enough) or a clean orange stick to get to the remainder at the bottom of the barrel if you so desire. I hate waste, so it’s not a bother for me, but I think you’ll be pleased if you give this one a try. They arrived on time and well packaged.

I wanted to like the DHC Lip Cream 2-pack because it has a lot of appealing ingredients like olive oil, aloe, squalane, and ginseng, and it’s fragrance- and colorant-free. The texture is smooth, lightweight, and comfortable when first applied, and it glides on easily without feeling sticky. That said, after using it for a while, I noticed that my lips didn’t stay moisturized for very long. If I didn’t reapply frequently, my lips actually felt a bit dry afterward. It gives a nice initial feel, but the hydration didn’t seem to last as long as I personally need. I think this could work well for light, everyday use or worn over lipstick for added shine, but for very dry or chapped lips, it may not be moisturizing enough on its own. Overall, it’s a decent lip balm with clean ingredients, just not the best fit for me.
