DeityMic 2S Shotgun Microphone High Sensitivity Low-Noise Directional Microphone for Professional Film Condenser Microphone

I’m a video producer and have used countless microphones on set and have used other deity mics in the past.Now I’m not Curtis Judd and don’t do crazy technical tests, but I do know a bit about mics and have years of experience. My first impression is that the pick up pattern is wider than most long shotgun mics, but I like that. I’m able to capture two people with one mic more easily.I find myself comparing it to the sennheiser mkh416 often. I’ve used the sennheiser mkh416 for many projects and to my ear, this sounds very similar, just with a different pick up pattern, smaller, and for much cheaper. On sale, this mic was a quarter of the price of the sennheiser and offers impressive value.I also love that it’s not very big when mounted directly on the camera.I really only have two cons for this mic. 1. Is quite narrow and you will most likely need sleeves to mount it in other mic brackets. And 2. The bracket it came with lost is grip almost immediately. The rubber adhesive came unattached after the second use and I’ve had to find ways to keep the mic from sliding out of the included bracket.Other than that, this mic is fantastic for the price and you should not hesitate buying it.

Not sure if I just received a bad unit, but these clearly aren't tested for quality assurance before leaving the factory.My unit has a constant noise "hum" at any gain above whisper quiet that I can't record any dialogue whatsoever because of the incredibly high self noise. As soon as I swap to my 416 it's completely gone and the 416 has less self noise at over 2x the gain.Returned.
