With these supports the lid opens without restriction and stays open. It closes when you pull it closed and can be adjusted so it will not close on its own. I took one apart accidently ( I don't recommend this) and was impressed with the mechanism. They have very little to wear out and should last for a very long time. The install instructions are a little tricky: be sure to pay attention to the points of measurement. One side is the hole in the bracket; the other side is the pivot on the support - not the bracket.

I would call these supports and not soft closures. Even when the adjustment is cranked super tight, the lid to the cedar chest I put them on would still slam shut after 45 degrees. And with the adjustment super tight, it was difficult to get the lid back to the full open position. Also they came with plastic bushing which are not pictured. The limited instructions make no mention of the bushing which I had to press in place with my shop vise. Again, good for holding up a 25 pound lid but not a soft closure.

Install was a little tricky and the instructions were almost non-existent, but the final product works EXACTLY as you'd hope. Holds our over-head camper cabinets up so we can actually use two hands to put large items in them.

I bought this for our rustic trashcan that my husband made so that no fingers were chopped off with it slamming down. It is a wooden heavy duty trashcan holder with a tin can in it that we use. These certainly slow down the lid closing, but was hoping that it softly closed the lid all the way. Right at the end it still comes down fast but not as bad. So they have definitely helped!

I liked the functionality of the hinges however the soft close wasn’t great. It slammed my kids toy box shut and wasn’t safe for them to use. It did keep the toy box open nicely just lacked on the close part. Had to return for those reasons.Hope this helps.

The hinge is low quality. It does not close without help and then just drops and slams. Not what I wanted. Would not recommend.

instructions provided were a little vague. HOWEVER, the video link provided by the seller clarified installation method. Suggest seller review installation instructions and provide a more intuitive set of instructions with the shipment.

The media could not be loaded. These are terrible. There are incomplete instructions on Amazon. And the hinges don’t work. They do not hold in place, they do not close slowly, they just slam down. Big waste of time, money and resources.
