Micro Swiss Direct Drive Upgrade Kit for Creality Ender 5 / Ender 5 Pro / Ender 5 Plus - Made in USA

I didn't really understand the importance of the distance between the extruder and the hot end till I upgraded. The installation did take a little bit of time, but I was taking my time so I didn't mess anything up. The instructions were good, and it explained all the things that needed to be done, so it wasn't that difficult. It also comes with an upgraded hot end, which I also liked as an improvement over the stock one. The mounting bracket is metal and has a very nice look, with all the holes lining up fine. The one difference between the instructions and my printer is my stepper doesn't have the notched shaft like I assume older versions had, but I was still able to use it, just can't use the printable nob with it.So the first noticeable difference in my prints was that they were smoother than before, and less threading with most of my filaments. It should also help when I do some tpu prints soon.

I bought this item back in July 2022. I purchased this one after the stock one broke on my Ender 5 Plus.This is a fantastic product and is much better quality than the stock one with any Ender 5 printer. It worked right out of the box with no Calibration required. The prints I've gotten from this unit are phenomenal!I had an issue with the extruder extention cable and was back up to printing in 3 days. I called the company and within 10 minutes, they sent me a replacement part for free. The customer service is top notch and I highly praise it!If you are on the fence purchasing this, I would 100% recommend you purchase this. It will arrive quickly to your doorstep too! Thank you!

Replaced my printed/Homemade Ender 5 DD assembly with this Swiss Micro DD kit - Unbelievable results, all of my prints have a smoother finish and print faster than before. Had to up my retract from the suggested1.5mm to 2mm. Definitely make sure you tune your e-steps.I attribute the increased print quality mainly from the dual gear extruder, but the larger 7mm nozzle (4mm hole) and robust and lightweight machined aluminum plate likely all contribute.Hardest part of the install was figuring out which wires to switch on the extruder motor plug to reverse the rotation, as I would rather shove red hot needles into my eyeballs than compile Marlin again.If you're on the fence for whatever reason...Just buy it

I dismantled my printer to fix a loose hotend and opted to install this upgrade while I had it apart. It wasn't until I had the printer completely dismantled till I found out Creality changed their extruder stepper motors and they aren't compatible. You may need to buy an older style stepper motor for set screw style gear. This new stepper motor may be cheaper for creality but it will be just another part on the long list of swaps needed to make this printer reliable. You used to be able to swap extruder gears where now, you're better off swapping the entire motor for the old style. I think they forgot the gears will wear out and need replaced. Press fit isn't user friendly. IMHO, this kit should stay as is and Creality should get revert back to the swapable gears.

If you're waffling on the decision to purchase this... do it! I sat on mine for several weeks waiting for some focused clear time to install. Finally, after wrestling with problems from the bowden system last night, I said "it's time". The PDF from the manufactures web site is simple to follow and spot on accurate. May have taken a couple of hours start to finish but I'm a little anal about my cable management etc. Granted, everything in my slicer software now needs to be tweaked so there is a slight learning curve there but I am amazed already about how much and more controllable the end result is. Everything you need comes with the kit. This was well designed and well thought out.

This upgrade was WELL worth it. So far my clogging issue has been remedied, my lines are much cleaner and there looks to be less stringing and quality deviation. The tip it comes with it seems good quality too.My Ender 5 plus had the extruder motor with the press on gear. I still used this motor but I had to file a flat spot on the drive shaft for the set screw of the new drive gear to sit on. Other than that it was a direct bolt in and I couldn’t be happier!!100% recommend, it’ll pay for itself in the amount of filament you’ll save from failed prints from clogs or quality issues with stock setup.
