Has anyone had issues getting this to spark? I have generic rods that throw lots of sparks but I am struggling with this one.

I thought the same thing, once I rubbed off the black on the rod...No problem. I will say that using the side of the piece of metal attached worked best for creating lots of sparks.

Will this work with an schf2

It will work with anything that has hardness above 7 and a sharp enough edge to scrape material off. I've used them to throw sparks with everything from the included scraper to the spine off a knife to a piece of sharp rock. I've even seen someone gets sparks off one using a piece of broken glass.

Is this made in china? usa??

ALL ferro rods are made in China. Some are marketed by American companies. There are no production facilities for ferrocerium in the US

I purchased the schrade scaxe2 and lost the ferro rod that came the handle. could this be used as a replacement? will it fit the handle?
