Great Leak-proof Mug that Keeps Your Beverages Hot or Cold
I'm 67 years old and this is the best thermal mug I've ever owned! First off it's made of a very solid steel and bullet-proof construction. You could stand on it on a sidewalk and it wouldn't dent. More importantly I love my hot drinks HOT when I drink them and this mug meets the requirements!! As advertised, it keeps hot liquids hot over 4 hours. Granted it's not as hot as when it first went in, but it is still HOT, not luke warm!! I haven’t used it for cold drinks, but I have no doubt that the insulation properties will work just as well at keeping things cold.I drive a Mini Cooper and the base of the mug fits perfectly into the console cup holder. The top of the mug which screws into the tumbler seals without leaks. You can turn your mug upside down in the closed position and not a drop will leak out! The lid has two openings from which to drink and there is a tab that is easily toggled to open and close the flow. The top contains several pieces that screw together and seat nicely for a solid leak-free seal. The top can be disassembled easily by a quick-turn of the plastic nut inside the mug which allows for separation of the open/close parts and the seal for periodic cleaning.I’ve seen some reviews stating that the top breaks. I haven’t had any problems in this regard. The only reason I can think of for that happening is that people are over-tightening the lid when screwing it onto the cup. It takes very little pressure to put the lid on and seal perfectly – no leaks. Just a light twist will do it. The lid is easily removed and disassembled by a quarter turn of the lock on the bottom of the lid allowing the periodic cleaning of the silicone gasket and open/close assembly. With the mug full of hot coffee, the lid on and switched into the “closed” setting, you can turn the mug upside down and it won’t leak a drop!!Great mug! I'll probably buy another!!

By far the best travel mug I've ever used
This is the third Thermos travel mug of this type that I've owned over a period of time approaching two decades, and the fact that I continue to use one speaks volumes about my satisfaction with its design and performance. These mugs used to be available at a local department store but are no longer sold there so mail order is my only option for obtaining one—either that or finding another local store that carries them, and frankly that is more trouble than it's worth when they are readily available on Amazon. This mug keeps my coffee hot for several hours and drinkably warm for several more. I can always tell without having to look at it whether the lid is open or closed by running my index finger through the slot opposite the side I'm drinking from to determine the position of the locking lever, something that is especially helpful in the dark or when I'm driving. Another thing I like about the mug is the tapered bottom, which allows it to fit into smaller cupholders like those in my trusty 19 year old G35 coupe. The little care and use pamphlet found inside a new mug states that while it is nominally top rack dishwasher safe, hand washing is preferable. It also advises that liquids should not be allowed to remain in the mug for more than 24 hours and that the mug should be thoroughly dried after rinsing or cleaning. My experience is that the longevity of your mug will be greatly enhanced if you follow these recommendations.Because I drink my coffee black I have no problem with bacterial growth in the lid caused by traces of dairy or non-dairy milk/cream lingering in the crevices of the cover, and all I usually do to clean the lid is to rinse it under hot tap water. Every once in a while I do dismantle it to give it a thorough hand cleaning and as I have always been the Mr. Fix-it type—starting at the age of four when I drove my father crazy by taking apart flashlights to investigate how they worked—I actually enjoy doing this. (Unlike the flashlights I dismantled in my youth, I always put the lid back together again.)For those who complain about the lid retaining water after rinsing it or running it through the dishwasher, I have found that leaving the lid in the open position and turning it upside down while/after cleaning allows virtually all of the retained water to drain and evaporate. When new I have found that the lid's seal is tight as a drum, and as the mug gets older and the seals inevitably deteriorate I can handle a small dribble of coffee escaping from the lid if I knock it over. The only reason I bought a new one is because after years of use the dribbling has become a bit more problematic of late and because my old one is battered from having been dropped too often in workplace parking lots, something that is no longer a problem for me since I am five years retired. :o)

Reliable Brand
Thermos is the only brand I will ever purchase. I tried other brands and I was extremely disappointed with the poor quality and substandard function. The Thermos lid is leak proof and the liquid stays hot/cold without fail.

I love this cup!!
Keeps drinks hot for HOURS! I use it for coffee on the go and it’s still warm by lunchtime. Durable, leakproof, and the lid is easy to drink from and clean. A must-have for commuters or anyone constantly on the move.

Sturdy and should last a few years
Lasted almost 4 years. Still holds liquid, insulates, does not spill when closed, survivesd many drops, including from 2d floor balcony to concrete below. But … the outside red paint now flakes off from the top down, the words “Open” and “Closed” fade to black, and it has taken so many falls that the bottom is not flat so it’s not stable on a table, desk or countertop. I have taken it everywhere, including daily motorcycle rides in the paniers, all-day babysitting and around the USA in a van. It has been easy to clean with or without a dishwasher. It is nice to have a bottlebrush to clean the bottom inside. I have another with a handle, but the same mechanism. I have not lost the three silicon gaskets per cup and they are easy to clean. No wear on thosecgazkets at all. Even without the words visible, it is easy to use one-handed when driving a car or van. I replaced it with a 17-oz Ocean Bottle ($47!) which has a small loop handle. I hope that minimizes the drops. The Thermos cup with the handle feels great, but is a bit awkward in a cup holder. (I use that one for hot coffee when based at home.)

Midnight blue looks black
Great coffee mug, I like the way the top screws on and the way it opens and closes I can easily do with my gloves on at work. It also keeps the coffee hot for at least 4 hours (I have drank my coffee in that amount of time since getting the cup) However be warned if you order the midnight blue it looks completely black, I thought I was sent the wrong color at first until I saw that black isn't even an option.
