Russian Vocabulary Builder+: with the Michel Thomas Method (A Hodder Education Publication)

The Russian Vocabulary course is excellent but there is one hitch. There is no new material if you have already purchased the Total and Perfect courses (which are both outstanding). The course consists of one disk containing the Vocabulary sections from the Total and Complete course. Not just the same words, the EXACT recordings in the exact order.. Those are of course good courses but no need to purchase if you bought the Total and Complete courses and already have the material. I assume the vocabulary was probably intended to accompany the older Foundation and Advanced series. The odd thing is this course was updated recently, There is a second disk, the "Visual Tuition" which is new but obviously I would not have purchased it if I knew the recordings were just copied from the courses I already had.

I love the Michel Thomas method and can't say enough good things about it, it takes all of the words you learn and helps you use them in full, easy to use, and very practical sentences. It is more in depth in that it tackles the Russian Cases (padezhi), which takes some time to wrap your mind around. I will say if you don't have someone to practice on this may not stick but by far, this and Pimsleur Method are my favorites. My husband is more of a visual learner but eve he likes listening to this and has learned quite a bit, so we are both very happy with this purchase.

I am normally a huge fan of Michel Thomas but this is poorly done. Very advanced with little explanation.

Good course. For the person who gave one start, there is a booklet that comes with it and if you lose that, they are available online via pdf.It is a good course but not a great course. I wish it went into more depth and had more vocabulary and really expanded more on the verbs. One problem that was annoying was the volume of the male speaker. He was good but you can barely hear him. I wish I could hear him cause he was flawless, so if you buy this you can really only hear 2/3s of the speakers well.

Outstanding. However, in order to make full use of this course, the Foundation and Advanced courses need to be covered first. A ton of grammar is presented in a fun way along with a sizeable number of words, all without rote memorisation. Natasha Bershadski is an excellent teacher, and the Michel Thomas method makes it a wholesome and enjoyable experience all the while learning a ton of Russian!

I've never bought a Michel Thomas method product before, but have had the opportunity luckily to taste an older edition of the foundation course, not that it wasn't good anyways but this is a slightly different ball game as there appears to be a CD-ROM along with the fresh material in this package, which is useful on testing your knowledge as you progress through the course. Also so far, I found it rather confusing where to start with Michel Thomas, because there is so much to choose from! But I also found that they suggest where to start in the guide book that is also in the package here. It says; 1) START, 2) TOTAL, 3) PERFECT and this falls between the TOTAL course and the PERFECT course. Really good buy, everyone needs to learn a foreign language in their lifetime, for me it's Russian!

the cd doesnt work in my car cd player and the cd rom doesn't work in my computer. not sure if this is country specific but i never had any issues with the 8 cd course. disappointed with my purchase as i cant even listen to it.

The quality of the recording was poor. I had trouble understanding much of what was said. The female student was almost indecipherable. Luckily the teacher repeated everything the students said. To get the best out of this CD you would need a very retentive memory. Perhapes if I was younger and had the brains of a collage professor I would have found it easier to follow all that was taught. The speed of the students answers lead me to think that they must have been studying Russian for a couple of years before they took part in this recording. The jump from "Start Russian" to this, was too big. There needs to be something inbetween.

This was different from the rest of the program. It's way faster and I can't follow it. I'm really frustrated with it. Also, if you buy Russian Total, it's included already. No need to buy this in addition.
