For use with a garden shredder these have been very effective and invaluable. Are they built to a high standard? - no, not particularly, but then you get what you pay for, but for the price they are very good indeed. If you want professional/industrial standard ear defenders that will last for years with use every day, you will have to look elsewhere and pay a lot more. For periodic, around the house and garden use, they really are excellent.
