A great story by Hillsy, he’s managed to include references to being a youngster today without it being cringeworthy. Nice little twists and turns and ultimately a satisfying ending. We look forward to the next instalment.

Bought for my 10 year old daughter, she wasn't sure she wanted to read it at first but then couldn't put it down and could be heard giggling away. Would definitely recommend, she's a fussy reader with high standards!

I was in two minds about picking up this book because although I am a fan of Adam Hills’s comedy and didn’t doubt he would be able to put together an entertaining story, I am also tired of the celebrity children’s author band wagon, which sucks up marketing resources.On the plus side this is a genuinely funny, illustrated mystery children’s book (the first in a series) for readers aged 9+. If you’re familiar with Hills’s stand up act (and I would recommend checking it out) then he has the same enthusiastic yet wry tone and this is also a book with good diversity as budding comedian George is a wheelchair user. Although the set-up for George and Charley is a bit of a stretch to buy into, the mystery plays out neatly but I do worry that future books will strain to bring in that mystery element. Luna Valentine’s illustrations add to the text and in particular bring out the diversity of the characters.I did enjoy this but hand on heart, I am not sure I would automatically check out the next book if only because I do worry about the mystery concept becoming harder to buy into.

Exciting page turner from the start! My 11 year old could not put it down, his 8 year old sister can’t wait to start it, great work, looking forward to the next one!

The 11 year old liked the sound of this one and really enjoyed the opening few pages which were set in Amsterdam a city she knows and loves as she visits regularly. She liked the idea that Charley was a superstar pop sensation who also turns her hand to detective work with her best friend George. There’s a lot going on in this book and the 11 year old did say that sometimes she felt it was just too much. But she found it funny and liked the character of Charley but she probably won’t read anymore in a possible series.
